Exceptional site. The hotel, a hanok, is in a pieceful and beautiful environment. The staff is extremely helpful, the host is a very elegant person and passionnate about the hotel, the korean history. There is a welcome tea which is highly appreciated, and the opportunity to have a dinner according to old recipies ( mode than 500 years) that have been modernized by the chef chose family did write the cool book. Each meal is explained. Unique and wonderful experience. As well the location is excellent, close to Hahoe Folk Village, 1 km

It was our privilege to be able to stay in this amazing, historical accommodation. It was very quiet and relaxing, and we slept great. Breakfast was delicious. Seunghwan, the owner, and his family went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and they even gave us a few rides around the area, for what we are really grateful. Just everything. The host lady was so so so nice. We felt so at ease. She even brought us some tea and biscuit in a traditional tray.The room was just just just wow. It was very clean as well.The breakfast was tooo good. I felt like in joseon era which is so so so coool. If I knew i would have like it so soo so much, would have stayed two nights. Maybe next time 🤭 For all the joseon era kdrama lovers, this is a must stay place. If you get the opportunity, bring a hanbok and blend in this nice place for cool photos. I really really really loved this place.

We had a great time in Taehwa House! We came to Andong to visit Hahoe Folk Village, but weren't very lucky with the weather. So it was particularly delightful to find refuge in this nicely decorated and elegantly refurbished hanok. The owner was very friendly, welcoming and warm and swiftly answered all our questions. She even left some lovely gifts for us. We were so wet and cold when we arrived, that we just decided to stay in for the rest of the evening and enjoy the stay in the hanok. We would have loved to stay for a bit longer, but unfortunately time is always too short. Thank you vary much for a great stay in Andong!

Andong Experience: During our stay, we made a short trip into the nearby town from Hahoe Village to pick up a few convenience items and explore the small local market, which was lively even in the rain. The highlight, of course, was the historic Hahoe Village, a 600-year-old treasure that is absolutely worth visiting. We enjoyed the famous Andong Braised Chicken (Jjimdak)—absolutely delicious—and found plenty of shops selling souvenirs, along with small restaurants and cozy coffee shops. For those planning a trip, be sure to allow time not only for the village itself but also for the annual Andong Mask Festival, which celebrates the region’s rich cultural heritage.

This is a very small town by Korean standards and not...

This is a very small town by Korean standards and not frequented by foreign travellers. Prepare to be noticed if you are visibly non-Korean. The people are very friendly though and some people wanted to come and ask us why we had chosen to come to Andong given its small size. Andong has a couple of nice traditional villages where you can see the traditional way of living in Korea. The area is also known for soju production and we had some really good soju there. The food was good, you should especially try jjimdak when in Andong. The bakery Mammoth is also worth visiting. Our experience was that most people don't speak fluent English there, so I would recommend having a translating app if you don't speak or write Korean. I would recommend Andong as a destination, especially if you are looking to escape the big cities for something more relaxed.

A great little town - with some excellent food and plenty of...

A great little town - with some excellent food and plenty of worthwhile sightseeing spots. There is a very efficient and good-value bus systemT. ahoe Hanoi Village is a must, and a bus trip out to Yeggi (Yekki) is very worthwhile, especially if the weather is fine.

This city has an interesting food streets area (east end) which is lovely for a dinner out. It has a few historic bits and pieces to see in the this part of town, plus an interesting market and mural village. It is, of course, the stop off place for Hahoe Folk Village. Be warned that the Express Bus Terminal is located 5Km from the centre so you'll need to catch a city centre bus into town. The train station is also located here. Note that the Geongjin line train station, however, is located in the eastern part of the city, near the food streets. Travelling on the local buses can be confusing as they run on a loop and journeys go on forever. Catching a taxi is well worth it to save on bus aggravation!

We chose to visit Andong mainly to visit Hahoe hill village...

We chose to visit Andong mainly to visit Hahoe hill village but decided to spend an extra night there to see the Andong folk village and the surrounding areas, as well as the Soju museum and the restaurants located more centrally. It is a large city by area and on reflection, it may have been useful to have a car, however, the taxis were very reasonably priced through NAVER and also reliable, which made getting between the often spread out tourist attractions relatively easy.

Andong itself doesn't really have any major tourist attractions, it's a place to sleep before or after visiting Hahoe folk village. It's a calm, pleasant city to spend a day or even two though,

A lifetime opportunity to stay in an authentic Hanok pavilion with hundreds of years of history. Really unique. The setting under the cliffs and across the river from the Hanoe village provides a peaceful, almost spiritual setting to stay a night or 2, in a historic setting. The experience is something a modern hotel could never ever match.
