This is a big, busy city!
This is a big, busy city! There is a lot of construction going on and there is a lot of traffic.
We used a driver to get us around, went to shopping malls and restaurants. CJ's in Kilimani is one of our favourites.
We did a lot of sightseeing, there is plenty to do and see here whatever your tastes.

The people in Nairobi are very nice and friendly.
The people in Nairobi are very nice and friendly.
However, the new generation is growing up in a way against African culture, I have lived in Africa off and on in 17 countries in 28 years, and the youngsters today are just like westerners. Theyre gonna play their music loud and disturb other people regardless of whether they are at a hotel or not, whether they're in a quiet area or not. There is music and construction noise everywhere, and I mean everywhere. If you're coming to Kenya, I wouldn't spend more than 1 day in Nairobi, to rest..then head out,

Nairobi has almost nothing to recommend it but a very lovely people who welcome you are kind and helpful. The city was built as a colonial playground for the Brits over agricultural and pastural land they snatched from the Kikuyu and the Masai. As all colonials they created nothing. Built nothings; planned nothing and left behind a hodgepodge of unplanned streets too narrow for cars. So the goverenment has built highways which cut across everywhere.
Cross streets with others because the traffic is nuts. Some highways cannot be crossed as they have barriers. There are few sidewalks and most are torn up with bricks sticking up ready to trip you. Being old, I have to be extra careful going aroound deep pits and muddy verges.
You cannot even walk from the Best Western to the Museum which is 1.5 km distant. Because you can't figure out how to get across the highway and wind through the built up little streets on both sides.
If you hire a car you can go to the Giraffe sanctuary and feed the lovely creatures. Visit the Natural Park (the biggest urban park probably in the world); try to see the elephant orphanage which is open only for an hour a day; see Karen Blixen's house if you have never seen an ordinary Euro-American house. DON'T TRY TO WALK ANYWHERE or you might get flattened.
I was told there is a nightclub in town for women only where men dance naked. I did not verify that.
However, there are several wonderful crafts markets with beautiful carvings worth seeing. My grandson bought a large wooden sculpture and it was perfectly packed so it arrived in tact.

Nairobi is a great city.
Nairobi is a great city. It has alot to offer from the Nairobi National parc over to hiking areas to some of the best restaurants and bars. However, keep your belongings close, as it also has a thief problem.

The hotel is ok. We liked the rooftop area the bar is cosy and the pool is nice. Good to relax before or after the safari, away from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. The rooms are clean, as are the bathrooms. The location is good because it’s CBD though i doubt people can do a lot of sightseeing in Nairobi..
The food at the rooftop restaurant was good, though a bit overpriced.
An excellent, reasonably priced hotel well situated and fairly equidistant between Nairobo Jomo Kenyatta airport and Nairobi Wilson airport for anybody making connections. We arrived late and left the next morning so difficult to fully assess but anyway happy to recommend as a transit hotel.
This is by far the best hotel I have been in my 3 weeks in Kenya. The hotel itself is close to luxury, the house has an incredible African atmosphere. It is very close to many nearby attractions, like the Karen museum and the Ngong hills. 100% recommended.
Hotel in Westlands, which is a nice area, faily walkable by Nairobi standards. 20 min to the airport if the expressway is free. Esay to find Uber, National Museum 15 min on foot.
Really spacious apartment, good location that was very quiet at night, easy walking distance to lots of great food options in Westlands and also the CBD
