Location was good, about 25 minutes drive to the ski slopes and 10 minutes drive to the town. They provided ample wide variety of drinks to unwind after the hitting the slopes. The lounge is fitted with camping furniture.

Everything!!! Incredible location, steps from the slopes, very comfortable room, great WiFi, rental on site - great people and equipment from Snowcan rentals - very good baths! A few meters from the bus stop. And the food is just out of this world ; and the chef is so good and such a kind person!!! Great breakfast and just amazing dinner!!! You have to go halfboard!! But the best is the people, all the staff is so kind and helpful, and the manager is the most friendly person ever!!! I had the best birthday ever staying at this hotel !! We have to come back !

The food was awesome. Room large for japan. Staff tried their very best with any request. Ski hire was the best quality, and the ski hire staff really knew their stuff. The reception offered discount lift tickets. We arrived in a blizzard and could not access the resort. They sent a vehicle at no expense to pick us up some distance away. We were so grateful after a day sitting on a non moving bus.

The staff were all very polite and professional. From promptly answering my numerous queries prior to my arrival to going out of their way to provide the best service during our stay, my family and I felt very welcomed. The hotel’s location is just beside Ryuoo Ski Park. They cater shuttle buses to and fro Iiyama as well, which we utilised. Will definitely recommend this hotel!

The monkeys are marvellous.

The monkeys are marvellous. Of course they are attracted to the valley by the food they receive regularly but they are totally free to come and go. So entertaining and endearing to observe how they interact. The park was created in 1964. Beautiful forest in a mountainous area that grows apples, peaches and grapes and lots of vegetables. Pay attention to the hotel you choose. Avoid Hotel Housei.

For a tourist location, it was hard to find restaurants open...

For a tourist location, it was hard to find restaurants open, or willing to seat us (a party of five). But in general the food was good and the location was great for hot springs and access to the snow monkey park.

The Onsen hot springs experience was unique and for anyone wanting to see how the Japanese hold this aspect of their beliefs in such high regard this area is a perfect example and for a couple of days you can immerse yourself in a different cultural and culinary experience that will be the highlight of your holiday and the truest insight of this unique way of life.

Great little town as a base for seeing the amazing snow...

Great little town as a base for seeing the amazing snow monkeys. The walk to the monkeys was very pleasant (but it is advisable to wear wellingtons as it is very mucky). There are many small Ryokans in the town - sadly all of varying standards. Our recommended one was Tsuyuru Ryokan. Great little place run by the amazing Yoko.

The Jigokudani Monkey Park is absolutely fabulous.

The Jigokudani Monkey Park is absolutely fabulous. We went at opening time and stayed all day. The morning offered the best viewing as there were less visitors(Most day trippers from Tokyo arrive in the afternoon). It is still very popular throughout the day but there is much more chance of getting a preferred angle to photograph the monkeys in the morning. However opportunities arise throughout the day. Just a note - I am a professional photographer.

We had the whole 2 week trip with good snow, yet my wife was...

We had the whole 2 week trip with good snow, yet my wife was more interested in seeing the snow monkeys! I agree that the monkeys were amazing, but if planning to go, get snow spikes for the walk up, as it is icey and slippery and these are essential. We ate at a few restaurants and the Prince west hotel, and had no issues with any food consumed

I will remember the sights and sounds seen and heard from our huge windows for the rest of my life. Vistas of mist shrouded mountains, the glow of Yamanouchi town’s lights and the roaring of rushing water, are unforgettable. The walk to the snow monkey park was both magical and extremely doable. Our hosts were kind and very gracious and the meal we ate there was delicious! I wish all hamburgers were this good 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Our room was big and beautiful- very traditional and with screens to cover the windows, very warm.

Comfortable rooms, excellent meals throughout our stay. There is a welcoming and comfortable coffee lounge open throughout the day. The hotel shuttle brought us to and fro Yudanaka Station without delays. The Snow Monkey Park is a nice one hour walk away by foot through quiet village roads. Otherwise, transport is provided by the hotel shuttle to the bus station for a 15 min ride to the park entrance. The staff were very helpful. The town of Obuse is a short train ride away to enjoy the Hokusai Museum.

The staff here are absolutely amazing. They were so helpful, so welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. We were offered an extra room because our room was small. They would proactively suggest buses to get on when the lifts were closed and always ensured we had everything we needed. The hotel was clean, had an amazing location straight opposite the lifts and right next to the bus stop

The facility is packed with great amenities. The rooms are large, well equipped, and beautifully appointed. A fully equipped onsen (with private bath rental options also), a restaurant, and roof top bar make this hotel an attraction in its own right. The majority of staff are also super lovely!

Nice place to stay in Yamanouchi, good location with some restaurants and bars near by. Also good if you are planning on visiting the monkey snow park. The stay was very nice, traditional japanese room. Onsen included in hotel, also very good.
