FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is very busy, sometimes I can get overwhelmed beause of how big and busy the city. It's definetly not expensive if you compare to Paris. People are very kind and friendly, always helpful when there's no menu in english at a restaurant. But the hotels are realtively compact and small, compare to other cities in Japan. It's easy to get around but you have to understand the subway structure first. Sometimes we take a taxi, and it's really expensive. Visit some shrine, shops and monument. It's Japan, it's their culture, it wowed me. They have very unique ones you could never seen somewhere else.

Exploring the food, culture, and shopping was amazing.

Exploring the food, culture, and shopping was amazing. The Japan National Stadium was breathtaking as we were there for a world sporting event. The people were polite, and we made an effort to respect their customs and social norms. The Imperial Palace Eastern Gardens were incredible, as was our trip to the Tokyo Samurai and Ninja Museum. We want to return as soon as we can.

Wow. Tokyo is mind-blowing for the first-time visitor.

Wow. Tokyo is mind-blowing for the first-time visitor. It is a BIG city with a lot going on. There is so much to see, do, and eat here! You can shop for anything, and eat street food or high-end omakase. The subway is useful but navigating the stations can be a challenge -- some of them are mini-cities unto themselves! Also, it takes longer to get anywhere than you might think -- always give yourself extra time.

The hotel is in a great location — just a couple of stops away from the busy, popular areas like Shinjuku and Shibuya, and within walking distance of Harajuku. What I loved was how peaceful the neighborhood felt, It was so nice to return to a calmer area after spending the day exploring the busier parts of the city. There’s also a beautiful park called Gyoen National Garden just a short walk from the hotel.

We paid $1.6k for 8 nights which was good value for money. Hotel was clean with daily cleaning (some hotels offer cleaning every third day). Basic toiletries offered and complimentary items available at the reception floor. Good location near metro quite central to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza and Harajuku, all approximately 20-30 mins away door to door.

The room was comfortable and the hotel is located well, opposite a park and a 20 minute walk from Shinjuku Station. A local underground station was only 5 minutes walk away, which had good connections. The hotel had a lovely bakery on the ground floor and you could buy coffees/drinks from the cafe. A good way to start the day.

The Hotel is really close to the trainstation. So you reach cities like Shibuya and Shinjuku in around 15-20 minutes. There are restaurants and convenience stores close by too. For the capsule itself, it was okay. Not too comfortable, but it had everything you needed.
