FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

It is an incredibly modern and efficient city.

It is an incredibly modern and efficient city. The people are lovely and polite. Everywhere is clean and you will not see a bit of litter or graffiti anywhere. We in the west could learn so much from Tokyo in terms of how to run a city.

Navigating Tokyo may sometimes seems tiring when riding the subway: long halls, many stair. Transfering to another line is often tricky, as there are several different companies and they do not necessarily intersect. Look for elevators and escalators, although reaching them may often involve walking hundreds of meters. Take the bus whenever possible, it's a nicer ride. We often took Uber when the subway was too convoluted. Finding a good restaurant is easy: there are nice places just around every corner. And of course, clerks in stores are excessively polite and that's a change from Western countries where I come from!

The Transport system is fabulous.

The Transport system is fabulous. It is really easy to navigate when you understand how it works. The food was delicious. The people are very courteous and respectful. There was so much to see and do. We were not there long enough as we were in transit to something else. It is a definite reason to go back.

We spent a very Chill time in Tokyo.

We spent a very Chill time in Tokyo. We only did two attractions, the Tokyo tower and the metro art museum in ueno. We spent the rest of our trip in Northern areas of jJapan. Tokyo is an energized city so we stayed in the quiet neighborhoods near the world trade center and waterfront. This allowed us to use the monorail for the airport. We walked around, ate French baked goods, Ramen, and Lebanese food and Chinese. We enjoyed sitting in the park and seeing a cool bonsai shop, a cool woven artisan basket shop and a shop where they make modern clothes out of Kimono. I had a black sesame butter shave ice. We were there 3days, 5 nights, we used trains and go taxi app.

Tokyo is full of energy, every suburb has its own unique vibe, the food, shopping, entertainment and beyond, love the hustle and bustle, easy to get around with public transport. Tokyo has everything to offer to everyone, whether you want to experience the food, night life, shopping culture anything. I loved my experience in Tokyo and I would definitely go back there again to discover more about Tokyo.

Let me get this out from the start - I'm a country boy and I HATE cities. I hate the busyness, I hate people, I hate the noise and I hate the pollution. So why do I love Tokyo? Because in all of those things it's just not like anywhere else. It's busy, but with a sense of space and beautiful green parts. The people are just lovely and helpful. It's not noisy and it's not polluted. It's safe, welcoming, friendly and just amazing. From the craziness of Shibuya junction through the cuture of the Imperial Palace to to the peace of taking macha tea in Hamarikyu gardens, there really is something for everyone here.

Great location in the middle of Shinjuku, close to bus and subway stations. Also close to Shibuya and to shin-Okubo, the Korean neighborhood. Nice restaurants and convenience stores close by. Clean and nice hotel with a luxurious touch. Nice toiletries., well lit room. Even though the room is quite small it is well distributed and the fact that you can store luggage under the bed is key! If you book this hotel make sure to get the right name/address because there are 2 or 3 APA close to it (this is more like an advice, not an issue!)

Loved my stay here, one of the best hotels I have stayed in a while and almost rebooked (but paid for another one :( ) for the ending of my trip. Spacious rooms, pyjamas, amenities were great with even more by reception. Location was awesome, 10 mins Shinjuku, 20 mins Shibuya, easy to get to other parts. Next time I come back to Tokyo I will be booking this place - great staff and bakery!

Lovely and very comfortable hotel with fantastic breakfast bar. It is fantastic that it’s next to the park but no more than 20-30 minutes volt to the bustle of Nishi-Shinjuku: a good base to explore Shinjuku and Shibuya from. All comfortable, staff was super nice and the bakery downstairs very cute and convenient.

Cozy little hotel. Perfect location near Nezu metro station. Just a few minutes walk to Ueno Park and Yanaka Cemetery. Perfect service. Pleasant atmosphere. The spirit of the shitamachi from the Edo period can still be felt here.
