This is a lovely place to stay in Shirakawago. The rooms are very modern and clean. The hotel itself is located about a 20-minute walk from the iconic houses of Shirakawago. There is also a great yakiniku restaurant a five minute walk from the establishment, as well as a conbibi about 10 minutes away. I had a great time staying here, and would recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in Shirakawago.

Environment was serene and peaceful. Private onsen availability was good and general onsen was enjoyable. Many facilities and additional features. Food was well beyond expectations (quality and quantity). A pricey accommodation, but well worth the spend if you are looking to splurg.

The service was exceptional. The shared onsen bath room was nice and clean. They gave us so much food for dinner and breakfast! The photos of the website does not give the property justice. The main floor is updated and modern.

Partition rooms no sound proof can hear neighbours walking and talking. As u go in the room feel like go army camp🤣, after check out u have to take out bedsheet, blanket liner and pillow case for them. The advantage is they provide tru & fro shuttle service to station. Is ok for me just 1 night.

1 day experience is perfect.

1 day experience is perfect. The tourist site can be done in a few hours if your arrive before noon. Next is to enjoy a good hotel stay with onsen and their gourmet dinner onsite from late afternoon to night. Follow by breakfast and leave to next destination. There is a storage place next to the bus terminal if you have luggage to store for a few hours and check out tourist venue next to it before heading to the hotel. We chose to ship our large luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto via the Family Mart or Yamato shipping services from Tokyo.

It has beautiful views of the snow, river, mountains and of course the thatched roof houses. The air is fresh but it is difficult to find a restaurant because they close early. It is boring at night. It would be better if visitors just go to Shirakawa for a day trip and stay at Takayama.

Shirakawa-go is a beautifully preserved hidden gem, offering a glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, with its iconic gassho-zukuri farmhouses and serene atmosphere. No matter the season, the scenery is breathtaking—whether dusted in snow, surrounded by cherry blossoms, lush with greenery, or glowing with autumn colours. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in traditional Japan.

Beautiful landscape with gassho buildings that are UNESCO heritage. There are quite a few museums open for tourists to get a deeper understanding of inhabitants who lived in these buildings many years ago. Many Souvenir shops and eateries... But most close by 5pm or 6pm. Limited dinner choices at night.

Shirakawa is a really gorgeous, serene village that we absolutely loved visiting. It almost felt unreal. Even though most of the restaurants and cafes were closed when we went (due to the season), it was lovely to just walk around and enjoy the sights.
