The accommodation was a short drive to Ginzan Onsen and near local restaurants of Obanazawa city. Highly recommended for budget friendly trip to Yamagata. Staff were also very accommodating. very nice hotel with good onsen and very close to station. The rooms were clean and the personnal qualified. The breakfast was good having a mix of everything but of course mainly japanese food as expected in this area of Japan which is not Tokyo. The hotel has a coin laundry which is appreciated as we used it. The onsen is normal for this kind of hotel but always appreciated and products are good. I especially liked the shaving foam with mint perfume (I even tried to buy it in a drug store but could not find the same). Parking for free and only 3 min walk to station. My son enjoyed to watch the Shinkansen leaving Shinjo.

Lovely owners and staff, super helpful too. The guesthouse has a great atmosphere, a separate women’s dorm is available, the concept of being in a community space of an old school building is really cool. There is also a pizza place that makes rather phenomenal pizza for the middle of nowhere, Japan. 😌

The staff were exceptional! I arrived early before check in and had realised I left my phone in the taxi. Despite the language barrier the staff saw I was distressed and worked quickly to understand and help. They called the station and the taxi company and with 30 mins I had my phone back! I can’t thank them enough! The staff also organised an early checkout and taxi back to the station for me plus added dinner onto my reservation. Really made my whole experience! Thank you very much for making my first Ryokan experience so special and memorable!
