Enjoy our stay in this hotel. I would highly recommend it for leisure and business. Aside from its trendy room space and its complete amenities. It offer free use of massage chair, spa and onsen. Take a hearty breakfast meal at this hotel, its affordable and has a train station view. Its location is very convenient. Close to shops and restaurant and busses. You never get hungry at midnight its convenience store is adjacent just adjacent and had a wide food selection . Vertical parking space at the hotel is limited to small vechicle. Another option is the hotel recommendation. It is a few walk from the hotel and it cost 1000yen(originally 1,200 less 200yen hotel discount)

It was like staying in a fancy 80s hotel at a backpackers price! The concierge walked me to the check-in and a porter carried my bags to the room, quite amazing for 5000-ish yen a night. The room was much bigger than in a modern hotel, it had proper timber furniture and there was a real bathroom with tiles and marble. The lobby is quite dazzling. It is a ten-minute walk to downtown with a peaceful path along the river in the other direction. I would go back in a heartbeat, I could even imagine living there!

The staff were the stand out feature! They even take the payment only at check out which was a refreshing vote of trust in the guest. It takes me back to the old days before when people used to call the hotel and make the booking and payment when they check out. The staff helped with the luggage and showed me to the room as well. Wonderful people.

Niigata is a lovely city with a nice vibe. We stayed near the river and the views were beautiful. We caught the ferry to Sado Island and hired a car. There is a lot to see on the island and we could have stayed for more than a day.

We didn’t explore the area as we were on a road trip and...

We didn’t explore the area as we were on a road trip and just passing through. We drove from here to Matsumoto which would have been straightforward if we hadn’t got caught in a snowstorm! However, it looked like a more interesting area than we had expected and we would go back to look around the more fully on another trip.

Niigata is a refreshing small city, and the river has beautiful views of both sides. Each side of the river has green pedestrian and bicycle rider paths. There is easy access to the Performing Arts Center with its living rooftop garden on it's oval shaped building. Hakusan Park is not to be missed - an oasis away from the hubbub of office and city life! Complete with a lotus pond, bridges, a large temple, Tori gates, and a pond with a wisteria-covered bridge. Very scenic. There are the shops on Furumachidori - a covered avenue with adorable shops, bronze figures of baseball players, and the Japan Animation and Manga College is on this avenue. Along this dori you might see a box of turtles sunning on the sidewalk!

I've been extremely lucky, I was in Niigata after a snowstorm and I found an amazing scenery of beaches under a white carpet. The fisherman market is an experience you should not miss, delicious food and crazy cheap bill. Try to drive the coastline!

Niigata is a lovely place with warm people but be prepared to travel by bus. To be more flexible make sure that you arrange a rental bike as this city doesn't have the subway lines you may be used to from Osaka or Tokyo.

Nigatta was a much slower pace. Feels like Sunday everyday. Chilled. It has fabulous restaurants and little local bars, great scenery. Definitely worth a visit for a few days. The bullet train ride from Tokyo to Niigata had lots of beautiful scenery along the way. So glad we decided to visit here on our third trip to Japan. Incredibly easy to get around with such an efficient bus service.

Very nice renovated and higher category hotel in NIIGATA, with relatively large rooms, and tastefully decorated lobby and restaurant. The location is excellent to visit NIIGATA in the historical older part of town. Many restaurants and sites of interest within 30 min walking distance, perfect for those that rather walk about to discover while traveling. Very nice self contained modern bathroom units by Toto in the rooms, super cool.Great view of the town from our room on the 8th floor. Very convenient parking next door at a reasonable rate.

There is a small spa/bath on 2F which was empty when I used it. The breakfast was buffet style and very delicious, there were many options from western to Japanese style breakfast and takeaway coffee. The room had a smart TV so it was great for watching YouTube and Netflix. Great location right next to Niigata station. There is a Lawson on the ground floor of the hotel.

The staff at Hotel Nikko Niigata are exceptionally professional and friendly. They are accommodating to kids and would go the extra mile to soothe a crying child. The rooms are spacious and have a good view of the sea.
