I had a wonderful stay at this beautifully preserved 96-year-old Japanese-style house in Yakushima. The traditional atmosphere is incredibly charming, and you can truly feel the history and care that’s gone into maintaining the home. Everything was exceptionally clean and well-kept, making it both authentic and comfortable. Kimika was an amazing host—thoughtful, welcoming, and full of great energy. The decor in the house is very nice, and the view from the house is stunning as well. In the common room, Kimika also thoughtfully provided delicious local coffee and tea from Yakushima, which added an extra touch of warmth and hospitality. The kitchen also has everything you need. The house is very close to Isso beach, which is a great place to see the sunset. This is the perfect place to unwind and connect with the beauty of Yakushima, and also connect with the locals. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience on this magical island.

Location was very beautiful, walking distance from the most beautiful beach, a lot of parking space. Everything in the house was available for us to use. Clean beds, clean house. We didn’t see any spiders!!! 😇 service was excellent! The best booking I ever made.

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. A free shuttle service was provided from the airport, and the driver was there waiting for me despite my flight having been significantly delayed. Travelling alone can be lonely and a little scary at times, but the staff at this hotel really made me feel less alone. They went above and beyond, responding to my panicked emails about calling a taxi when I was caught out in a storm at night with a broken umbrella and a broken phone and ensuring I made it back safely, and also taking note when one of my tours was cancelled thanks to said storm and offering to book me onto a different tour (at no extra cost) without my having to ask. The staff were all incredibly kind and were always happy to help. I really cannot thank them enough for their hospitality. My room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and warm, and the amenities provided were excellent. The hotel also has a shop, cafe, restaurant, laundrette, and hiking gear rental area within the building, so I was able to relax and eat after long days hiking and exploring, do my laundry, and grab some souvenirs and snacks for the next day before heading to bed. The hotel is also conveniently close to the ferry port, being almost directly across from it. It took me about five minutes to reach the departure point for my ferry while dragging a heavy suitcase upon leaving the hotel. If I ever return to Yakushima, I will stay at this hotel again.

"Shared bathroom" means "Public Bath", ONLY! Staff speaks very little English. Room had a funny smell. The japanese style room is authentic, otherwise rooms are sparsely furnished. Hot/cold water machine, unlimited tea, optional bento box.

The house was very spacious! We were a group of 3, but you could have many more members in your party before it felt like not enough space. Everything was comfortable and well explained. Lots of space and equipment in the kitchen for us to cook with, plus there was some food available for purchase on a table in the living room should we have not been able to get to a supermarket in time. The owner was also fabulous. She had seen that we had purchased some fireworks and the next day there was a bucket in the living room for us to put water in to put them out safely!

It was hands down the best place I've stayed in Japan so far! Huge rooms with lots of space. Great amenities. Had an ocean view from upstairs which was incredible. It was very easy to find and had parking available. We had such a lovely stay and our hosts were super communicative and friendly! Would highly recommend.

The house is superb, functional and the setting is incredible. Thank you to our host for booking the rental car on the island, it helped us a lot and it went very well. The bedding is comfortable, there is all the necessary equipment for a pleasant stay. Accommodation to recommend whithout hesitation. The Onsen by the sea, a 5-minute walk away, is incredible.
