Excellent stay here in Takayama with an onsen on the rooftop, felt very private at 6am, had it all to myself. The toiletries were luxurious and it felt really good to be pampered.

Lots of space. Had a kitchenette, dining area, 2 double beds, a washing machine/ dryer in a separate laundry. Quiet at night. Short walk into town and the station. Easy pick up of keys from a nearby hotel.

It’s a small hotel - only two rooms on our floor which helps with noise and lift being available quickly. Location is great - very close to the station and walking distance to the old town. We enjoyed the complimentary welcome drink at Hid’s Cafe which also does an excellent battered fish and chips. The room was the most spacious we had in Japan with a luggage rack and plenty floor space to leave a second bag open on the carpet. As well as space to hang up clothes if needed. There was also an ironing board and iron which was unexpected. We could charge both our devices using the USB ports next to each bed. The bed was very comfy and noise insulation excellent. There is free water dispenser on the 3rd floor and washing machine and dryer.

The beds were comfortable and clean. The check-in (small tour, tea, explanation of the temple, 'introducing' selves for a safe stay, etc) was interesting and relaxing. The information about the history of the temple was very interesting. There were many different options for experiences unique to a temple (copying sutras, joining morning meditation, etc).
