The room is super spacious, the buffet dinner offers a very varied choice of dishes and all of very good quality. On top of that: good coffee free of charge in the reception room at breakfast time. At the time we were there, the hotel was mostly frequented by locals, which added another dimension of charm and authenticity.

Clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and nice amenities, plus definitely bang for your buck in terms of value. Staff were friendly and hospitable, especially Tani-San, who helped to book us into some of the more popular restaurants in town that needed advance bookings! parking was free as well.

This little home is in a really neat neighbourhood and is very comfortable. We would have liked to stay longer. It's a really cool building and property. Way nicer than the photos showed.

Hospitable owner. Good location during my kumano kodo ohechi hike. Near Tako train station (900m) and bus stop just at door front. Communal room and free ocha tea bag available. No restaurants nearby but the owner can cook dinner (2000yen) and breakfast (included in my booking) for you.

It has the island vibe, the food is amazing, fresh fish everywhere. It has many places to explore, beaches, parks on every road were you can sit down and enjoy the sun, the sea and the breeze. People is very friendly.

It's a wonderful city.

It's a wonderful city. I visit several times a month to dive and enjoy sightseeing. It's topographically interesting, has a variety of tourist attractions and delicious food, and the people are warm and friendly. However, it's also a city where a huge tsunami can hit six minutes after an earthquake occurs. I know the routes to evacuation shelters and higher ground, but if you're in low-lying areas by the sea, it's impossible to escape unless you have very strong legs. I have to cross Route 42, which is very busy, and I wonder if it will be possible to get there smoothly in terms of the risk of a traffic accident in the event of an emergency. I worry about the local people, too, as most of the houses, private and public facilities, restaurants, and hotels are located in low-lying areas. I know I'm being nosy, but I feel that way every time I visit.

We went to Cape Shionomisaki, the southernmost tip of the...

We went to Cape Shionomisaki, the southernmost tip of the main island, but unfortunately it was raining. We were able to see the scenery and the view from the observation deck was great. The crab and shrimp aquarium was fun considering it was a small facility. I was surprised at how many types of crabs and shrimp there were. On the second day, we went to the underwater park and met lots of fish. We were able to feed the sea turtles and see newborn sea turtles. They were so cute. For lunch, we enjoyed spiny lobster dishes, which the whole family wanted to eat. We were very satisfied. Our last stop was Toretore Market, where we looked for souvenirs and bought some fish for our dinner hot pot. This was a family trip with my grandchildren, and although it was a two-day schedule, it was a very satisfying trip.

The atmosphere is that of a small rural port town. I visited Cape Shionomisaki and the underwater park. I stayed there for three days, but unfortunately, the sea was rough after the typhoon, so all the fish except for tuna were not very tasty. I took the train to Kii Katsuura and Taiji Town. The tuna in Katsuura was excellent, and the sushi was also good. In Taiji Town, I enjoyed whale dishes. What was disappointing was the local character? Or was it the quality of service at the restaurants, which was simply terrible.
