Karuizawa offers an amazing small town charm with excellent food, friendly people, and accessible nature. Definitely check out the Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel tour to view Musasabi! The only downside to this beautiful town is that it's a bit more pricey than the rest of Japan.

We would definitely go back.
We would definitely go back. Just around an hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo, Karuizawa is the perfect place if you want the laid-back, nature-embraced, old-town feel. Just strolling around town is cool enough but they have a lot of museums and galleries too, that the whole family enjoyed! Also got to try skiing for the first time. Overall, this is one place that we will always be included if we go in the Tokyo area again in the future.

A wonderful destination if you like fresh mountain air, lovely tree-lined roads, cycling, etc. Many useful bus routes and also Shinano Railway next to the Shinkansen that goes to Naka-Karuizawa and way beyond. Note that many restaurants close early, especially out of season. Many well-known restaurants need a booking.

Should spend more days in Karuizawa town.
Should spend more days in Karuizawa town. There is a Skiing sport just beside the Prince town outlets and worth for beginner to try and have fun. Walking distance to the old town bring different experiences and its very nice to try walk around and try the foods there. Its worth to go for a relax place. If more days , can travel down to the other town in Karuizawa for skiing and sight seeing. Awesome place to explore.

A European town in a forested mountainous region not far from Kusatsu, Shima onsen, or Tokyo.
The hot springs aren’t anything special but the mountainous scenery and delicious French/Italian food can be a nice change from the usual Tokyo bustle.
Autumn colours are nice, especially just north towards mount Asama.

Nice “garden” style hotel. Old but has been refreshed.
Nice “garden” style hotel. Old but has been refreshed. Like the “Club” room with free drinks (not beer) and games. Large rooms. Breakfast not buffet but “set,” and good enough. Not easy to spot entrance off the main road.
1. The breakfast was spectacular
2. The pick up service was the best ever. Reminded me of my grandpa
3. You can fully be immersed in the Karuizawa forests
4. Welcome drink was awesome. The grape juice was marvelous
5. You can get a mini tour of Karuizawa from the pickup ride
6. Near hoshino resort so easy to get to popular places!!
7. You can walk to Hoshino onsen and the owners provide discount coupons and towels for bathing.
8. Best ever hotel. I have been to over 100 hotels over the world. Never have I written a review. Just the best EVER.
Truly an amazing gem in Karuizawa, I visited this town just for the hotel and was not disappointed. The staff are all very attentive and helpful, the facilities are clean and beautiful, my standard room was bigger than my apartment and the bed and pillows super comfy. The breakfast here is out of this world, the best I’ve ever had, and the spa is also amazing, with an indoor pool, outdoor pool and cold tub and sauna as well. I was able to thoroughly relax and enjoy some down time away from the city, I will definitely come again some time!
Beautiful place. The moment you arrive at the hotel you feel a blanket of peace and tranquility coming over you. The staff provided amazing service and speaks well English to explain the necessary items + how to use the onsen.
The room is spacious, clean, and has a beautiful view on the small river. Beautiful bathroom as well and the bed sleeps amazing!
The highlight was the onsen, our first time to do this and we couldn’t pick a better location for this!
The breakfast was world class!
The hotel is not fancy, but with all comfort you need and then some extras - spacious rooms with big windows, very comfortable large beds, a real Japanese hot spring bath "onsen" in the premises, yukata bath robes, green tea on self-service, spacious restaurant with huge windows and diverse menu (Japanese breakfast options and Western breakfast options), large parking, quiet location yet easy access. All this for a very reasonable price.
Nice place to stay and chill. Good nature resort and ease of transportation. The only down side is waiting for transport back and forth to the cottage. It would be good to indicate the bus number which is going round the cottage and which is not.
Always some confusion that needs to ask the hotel staff to confirm the correct destination.
Overall love the stay and weather. Staffs are friendly too.
Keep up the good work.
It’s clean and very comfy. The hotel doesn’t look big, but it’s quite spacious. Lots of things to do inside. The kotatsu outside on the terrace and foot sauna was my favorite. Wish i had more time there. The terrace is beautiful, perfect for casually hanging out with friends and family. Though a bit far, the onsen facilty was great. The staff is really friendly.
This property has a blended europe and japan vibes. The building is quite old but maintained well.
The breakfast is good. Not to much variation but nice and tasty, enough for breakfast.
The location is quite near from the Karuizawa Station, only 800m and 10 minutes by walk. We like the neighborhood.
Loocation: is perfect, we had a car, it was easy to reach.
Food: we had breakfast in the hotel, the food was delicious and had variety.
Room: very spacious with view of Mt Asama and overlooking beautiful hotel grounds.
The hotel has an onsen ( public bath).
The host was tremendously friendly and generous, and the breakfast was quite delicious as well! Plus, it has kashikiri onsen, and that’s pretty suitable for couples or families. If I will go to Karuizawa again, I will definitely staying here.
The only thing positive about this hotel is that it's pretty near Karuizawa Shopping Plaza. It's still a walk but you can also take the shuttle bus. There were free drinks you can help yourselves to from the mini bar at the lobby.
Quite near to Karuizawa Station. Twin beds are big. Staff are friendly and helpful. Walking distance to train station, Prince Shopping, Karuizawa old Ginza Shopping and Kumoba Pond.
We really enjoyed their private onsen.
The lobby was warm and cosy with a fire place.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The outside of the hotel looks cute and nice for photos.
The location is perfect. Walking distance to Kyu Karuizawa and a couple of other sites. Room is nice and spacious. The breakfast was particularly good.
