It was a very nice experience to sleep in a well made traditional japanese guesthouse. We had the accommodation for the three of us and it is very big, just in a small other room there was a volunteering couple and they used the kitchen but no problem. Everything was very well thought of and the owner explained everything very welcoming. Also it is there to preserve traditional housing and villages so it was a very special experience.

Everything was exceptionally great. Very cozy place and very clean. Surrounding environment was very nice. The “woodness” inside looks great. We were two people booking the “4-Bed Mixed Dormitory Room”, we get the whole room (with bathroom and shower) even it says “bunk bed” and “dormitory”, kitchen was shared though. I would definitely come back if I have the chance.

We were slightly sceptical about this place as it only had two reviews, but we are so glad we booked. This was a great guesthouse with traditional Japanese rooms in a gorgeous village. The host was incredibly helpful (even walking us to a local restaurant to make sure we got a space as everywhere was fully booked). We felt incredibly welcome, had comfy beds, a lovely room, and everything we needed.

Very tidy, quiet and one of the most comfy beds I've stayed in in Japan. Would definitely recommend this place. It's also a great base to do some exploring around the area. The associated restaurant down the street was absolutely amazing as well. The folks were extremely welcoming and the food was good for the belly and the soul.

The cottages are quite basic, but nice old Japanese style and the view from the terrace is amazing. The host also arranged me a brand new electric mountain bike which worked very well for me to see the area around, such as Aso volcano and Takachiho gorge. The WiFi worked like a charm. Definitely recommend!

Cute little guesthouse in rural Kumamoto at the foot of Mt. Aso. The host, Stefano, was extremely friendly and chatted to us for a while about the local area - he then offered us some of his homemade bread! There is a really nice natural onsen and izakaya nearby - so it was the perfect location to stay to experience rural Japan. Highly reccommended.
