This guesthouse is worth the climb: located in a beautiful mountainous forest, the sounds of cities and cars are replaced by nature and animals. Takao-san is a wonderful host: he came to our car in the pouring rain with spare umbrellas and upgraded us to the largest room as we were the only guests that night. His family was also very welcoming and sweet. Everything was clean, combining the convivial guesthouse atmosphere to the traditional ryokan room architecture.

Truly a fantastic place to stay. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The host, Christophe, was very kind and accommodating to any requests we had and check-in was flexible. We had a wonderful time at Carpe Diem and wished we could have stayed longer.
