I love thé location and pricing. I also love their Onsen on the top floor that gives the feeling of upper class. I love thé access to AEON supermarket so we don’t have to dine out expensively. The lobby area is also huge and accessible with lots of free toiletry and access to things we need. There are also different access entrances for people to walk across the block to get to different bus stands so it was very convenient in the snowy winter. The staffs were very friendly and despite not perfect with their English they understood everything I said and were very eager to help. The cleaning staff were plenty so there are a few of them all working like an efficient team going through floor by floor quite quickly.

One of the best accommodations in Japan. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Requesting cleaning, towel change and do not disturb is one of their best systems. The sento is great with options, inside and outside rooftop sections, with free ice creams any popsicle, just outside. The staff is insanely helpful, I left my card in my room and they just helped with no charge and I left my luggage with them early and they moved it to my room for me. Plus, just across the street is the bus that goes right to the airport. The stop is before Asahikawa Station and you are garunteed a good seat when you have to fly out

There is a small onsen on the top floor. Convenient location next to the railway station and various shops and restaurants. Very nice breakfast buffet with lots of freshly prepared Japanese food. Car parking with lift available. Staff didn't speak much English but was very friendly and helpful. Thanks a lot. It was a very pleasant stay.

All the necessary items and shops are concentrated around...

All the necessary items and shops are concentrated around the station, so it's compact and convenient for parking your car and walking around. However, since the Aeon Mall opened, it's a bit disappointing that you can get almost everything you need there. Large sake breweries like Takasago Brewery are nearby, and Otokoyama Brewery is a little further away, so having sake breweries in the city is a delight for sake lovers. It's a great location for mountain lovers, with Furano (Tokachi-dake, Biei-dake, Furano-dake, Sandan-yama, etc.) just 1.5 hours away, Asahi-dake just 1.0 hour away, and Kuro-dake just 1.5 hours away. Accommodation costs are also cheaper than other cities in Hokkaido, which is a plus.

This is an excellent winter location - lots of snow, lots of...

This is an excellent winter location - lots of snow, lots of ski opportunities at nearby resorts and towns. We were there during the amazing world ice-sculpture competition which was beautifully lit at night , and also an ice rink is set up in the square for day and night skating.

Many animals were not visible at the zoo.

Many animals were not visible at the zoo. Many live in very small cages. The main attraction is the penguin parade, which is watched by hundreds of visitors. Parking in Asahikawa is very expensive. We paid 5,000 yen for four and a half hours. The shopping streets are very disappointing.

Had a great time at Asahikawa as it was easily accessible to other attractions in Furano and Arashiyama Zoo. Wished could have stayed longer to cover more attractions. All in all it was a very relaxing and layback city.

It's been a while since I last drove a rental car.

It's been a while since I last drove a rental car. I only had 5-6 hours, so I wasn't able to see much, but perhaps because it was a weekday, the roads were wide and uncrowded, making it easy to drive. Driving in the snow in winter is a bit scary. Still, I think there are different charms to the summer scenery in summer and the snow-capped mountain scenery in winter. Asahiyama Zoo was also a lot of fun. It's very spacious. However, the ramen I had inside the zoo wasn't very tasty. I don't recommend it.

These are my impressions from a two-day, one-night visit...

These are my impressions from a two-day, one-night visit from Sapporo. Because it's a basin, you can see Asahikawa city and the Daisetsuzan mountain range beyond from the observation deck on the low mountain on the periphery of the city. Asahibashi Bridge is a massive, imposing structure from the early Showa period, and it's impressive. There's a pedestrian-only road stretching straight from Asahikawa Station, and bronze statues stand here and there, giving it a literary atmosphere that makes for a fun stroll. There's also a runabout (a rotary-type intersection), which is rare in Japan, and it's fun to experience it early in the morning when there are fewer cars. If you do your research beforehand, this is an area you can enjoy in many ways.

This hotel was a great find, we loved it. Right in the heart of town close to the train station, super-clean, good size rooms and a big reception area with huge tables to meet up with friends for a drink, or even to eat take-away meals. Bonus of a parking garage (1000 yen a day) adjoining the hotel with direct access into reception, making it very easy to get around to ski areas and local attractions. We will definitely use Amanek as a base for our next Central Hokkaido adventure.

The facilities are really nice and have a rustic charm, the deck in particular is super nice to sit on and look out over the fields. My bed was super comfy. The owners are really lovely! The common area feels very welcoming and I love that it felt like being in a lounge room. The location is really nice too, not too far from Asahikawa and close to more regional activities in Biei/Furano.

Very convenient hotel when in Asahikawa as it is just outside of the Shinkansen train station. The whole property as well as the rooms are well above Japanese business hotels average. Rather stylish and quite comfortable. There is a shopping centre in the lower floors of the building, quite convenient to catch up on some travel supplies. Many good restaurant and drink options close by.

Great location, easy walk from Asahikawa station through the shopping and restaurant strip. Facilities were great, after a week in hotels it was nice to have an apartment where we could relax and wash up properly (both clothes and travel mugs etc.)

Wr had private outdoor bathtub in our room. Good view from the outdoor bath and good hot spring. We enjoy the beautiful landscape of asahikawa / biei area and the white world the next day when it started to snow. Good contrast.
