The property is located in a cute little town with easy bus access to Manarola, as well as on trails to Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, etc. The 2 bedrooms are good size and with comfortable beds. The bathroom was clean and well equipped, including extra towels. The kitchen/dining had sufficient utensils, pots, cups, etc. for convenient use. The relatively large fridge, gas stove top, bake oven, etc. can easily accommodate those staying longer. And there was a dishwasher and clothes washing machine as well.

Handy to Manarola, via (steep) walking track and shuttle bus, but away from the crowds. The two restaurants have limited options (especially for vegetarians) and are quite expensive, but the little village shops is quite good. We ate in other villages and made pleasing breakfasts and lunches with supplies from the shop. The village is small, so easy to walk. If you need your morning coffee, though, make sure you bring your own supplies. Volastra is in the agricultural heart of the Cinque Terre, but still with views over the sea, and the terraced hillsides.

Volastra is an excellent alternative to staying in one of the Cinque Terre villages. It’s higher up on the hills than Manarola and Corneglia, but is easy to get to by car (make sure your hotel/apartment has parking) and buses run rather frequently to and from Manarola (and even Riomaggiore, but less frequently). Be aware that the bus schedule is less frequent during the mid-day hours as well as later at night. From Manarola, it’s very easy to hop on the train to go to any of the Cinque Terre villages. Volastra is the mid point on the trail hike Manarola-Corneglia and it’s very easy to access the trails. In my opinion the Volastra to Corneglia hike is THE most beautiful of all the Cinque Terre trails, and hiking from Volastra to Corneglia (as opposed to the other way) is also a little less strenuous. Same for Corneglia to Vernazza (as opposed to the opposite direction).

Volastra in itself doesn’t really offer much: it’s a quiet...

Volastra in itself doesn’t really offer much: it’s a quiet village with an amazing view. But the real deal is down at sea level. A convenient bus takes you down to Manarola and from there you can get the train to visit the other ‘terre’. If you buy the 5 terre card, you can hop on and off the bus and train as much as you want. It’s around 19€ a day per person, while the single bus fare is 1.50€

Ideally located for visiting the Cinque Terre. Charming little village with a small supermarket and beautiful views. Easy walks nearby towards Corniglia. A lovely open-air café (guinguette) a 5-minute walk away, perfect for enjoying local products in the evening.

A small, peaceful village located above Manarola. It's accessible by bus, which is fortunate because the climb from Manarola or Corniglia is very steep. There are many high steps (not ideal for knees). It's easier to start from Volastra to get to Corniglia than the other way around.

The location is exceptional.overlooking the ocean from Volastra, you are able to see 4 of the cinque terra villages. Breathtaking views, sitting having dinner on the outside table is fabulous!! Great facilities and an excellent host who offered valuable insights into the location and getting around cinque terra. An absolute bonus is being able to park a car. A short (and regular) bus trip into Manarola from Volastra and return makes accessing the rail system between villages very easy.

The location in Volastra was perfect for having a quiet place to relax in the evenings after a busy day. The property was spotless and had all the necessities we needed as well as a coffee machine, kettle and fridge. The town was easy to get to by the local bus in 10 minutes from manarola and the bus stop could be seen from the bus stop so was easy to find. We had complete privacy during our stay and adored the views of the hills and the sea.

The location is fantastic with a good view towards both Manarola and Corniglia. Good starting point for hiking to both villages. Very good breakfast that can energize you for the trekking. Volastra is a special location, right above Cinque Terre. And with that, a beautiful landscape and panoramic walks just follow. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. There’s a tiny spiral staircase to climb to be able to reach your bedroom from the kitchen downstairs. Not a problem for us but worth noting that.
