Great hotel with beautiful surroundings and facilities, massage at the Spa was amazing and the hotel manager went above and beyond to help us with our broken down rental car and forgotten items in the room. It was a fantastic short stay and we will hopefully be back at some point. Thank you very much to the whole hotel team for providing outstanding service.

It is very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The host is great, very forthcoming. He asked us evening before, what we want for breakfast and next morning all was there, accompanied by freshly plucked apricots from own garden.

Beautiful location, super nice visit and tasting of the aceto made at the property. Very nice staff and owner who gave the tour himself. Maybe a suggestion is to send information about the possibility of visiting/tasting at the moment of reservation, it is not clear if it is always offered, time etc. We were lucky to get into a tour that was already taking place on that day.

The castle is set in beautiful countryside with stunning...

The castle is set in beautiful countryside with stunning views and a magical atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food at the Osteria was fantastic. There was nothing to dislike — we only wish we could have spent more time at this wonderful property. Absolutely perfect — we will definitely be back!

Unbelievable place, a real 1000+ year old castle.

Unbelievable place, a real 1000+ year old castle. Very uncrowded, one night we were the only ones there for dinner other than the host. Great food. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there and that kind of spoiled the view and any lounging on the lawn. But very nice!

The Locanda Sotto la Luna is a 10 minute walk from the small...

The Locanda Sotto la Luna is a 10 minute walk from the small town of Viano. It feels very peaceful and tucked-away. The town itself is not especially interesting, but does have a couple of good restaurants (book ahead at weekends!) and it is only about 35 minute' drive form the lovely city of Modena.

Not very exciting.

Not very exciting. Driving up into the mountains, you come to a spot where you can see a mudslide. It's closed and not much to see. The castle: the road is steep and the castle is otherwise inaccessible. Beautiful views, though. Modena/Parma/Maranello are really only 45-55 minutes away.
