Sometimes you come across places that could truly be considered hidden gems, so special you almost don’t want to share them because you’d rather keep them to yourself. Barbera e Tulipani is one of those places. Still, I feel the need to share our wonderful experience to both compliment and thank Daniela and Paul for our three-night stay. The newly renovated villa is beautiful, with spacious and spotless rooms. You can immediately tell that everything has been designed with care and attention to detail, from the layout of the rooms to the thoughtful design of the bathroom. The swimming pool is a refreshing escape during the day and is very well maintained. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and Paul was a fantastic host. For us, it was convenient that Paul speaks Dutch. Daniela, an Italian teacher, speaks English almost fluently, close to native level. Even though all of this already sounds like a five-star review, what made our stay truly unforgettable was something else entirely. Daniela grew up in the area, and by simply asking for her recommendations and following them, we were guided to authentic Italian experiences. We discovered cozy local bars, enjoyed incredible meals at less touristy restaurants, and visited charming villages, all thanks to Daniela and Paul’s guidance. One highlight was visiting a hazelnut farm together with Paul and his daughter, who kindly helped translate for us. We ended our stay at a lively village festival, the perfect conclusion to three days that felt both relaxing and enriching. Our time in Monferrato was truly unforgettable. Having stayed two nights in the Langhe area beforehand, I can now say that Monferrato has stolen my heart. Daniela and Paul are the best ambassadors for the region you could possibly wish for, and we can’t wait to return.

The apartment was perfect for myself and the 3 kids. It is of a high standard and looks new. The kitchen is fully equipped ( even a dishwasher), smart tvs in the rooms, and lots of info on the area. The owners own a lovely italian restaurant just a few hundred meters away. Also within a few hundred meters is a supermarket, pharmacy and little wine bistro.
