Peaceful oasis on the hills! Everyone in the Convento was so helpful and kind. The view is exceptional, overlooking the old gardens and down into the valley. Breakfast was particularly impressive with a huge range of options including local meats and cheese, all very fresh. I loved that almost nothing was in plastic compared to some of the places we stayed on our trip. I've seen other commenters disappointed in the 'upkeep' of the gardens but I'm happy to see they've turned most of the old gardens into a rewilding project for a butterfly garden. Much nicer than manicured lawns in my opinion!

Recently opened with this team only 2 weeks ago. Easy car parking. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a rustic farmhouse vibe. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice restaurant. Lovely location on the edge of the village, adjacent to the little lake. Just a few minutes walk to the historic centre of the medieval village.

Unfortunately, the town was half destroyed by the earthquake, and there are collapsed ruins around the house, but the house was very beautiful and comfortable. A few small improvements would help make our stay better. Overall, aside from the check-in process upon arrival, where the address didn't match, we had a good time.

Poggio Picenze is a small village with no historic center, having been abandoned after the earthquake. However, it's strategically located for visiting the surrounding area: from L'Aquila to Campo Imperatore, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Rocca Calascio, and more. The accommodation is excellent, and the PANEOLIO restaurant is exceptional.

Poggio Picenze itself doesn't have much to offer, but it's strategically located for everything in the surrounding area: the Stiffe Caves, Rocca Calascio, Santo Stefano in Sessanio, Campo Imperatore, L'Aquila, etc. Plus, it has an excellent restaurant, so you don't have to bother looking for somewhere to dine in the evening.

Poggio Picenze is a quiet location not too far from L'Aquila and a good base for visiting Campo Imperatore and the historic villages in the surrounding area, from which various routes and paths for excursions and trekking also depart.

Poggio Picenze is a small village near L'Aquila, just a few kilometers away, but it's also a good base for reaching Campo Imperatore, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Calascio, and Castel del Monte. Here you can still savor the authentic flavors of times gone by; the arrosticini (typical mutton skewers) and the cheeses and cured meats are highly recommended.

This hotel is on the town’s (Poggio Picenze) main road and easy to get to. The hotel is close to Gran Sasso National Park, and a short hop to Sulmona. The proprietor was friendly and accommodating, giving us a ground floor room when he realized the steps might be a challenge for us. The rooms are spacious, the internet is perfect, the bathrooms modern. The associated restaurant had fine food, though a bit pricey. The breakfast includes delicious crostada and other tasty homemade Italian baked goods.
