The hotel is in a stunningly beautiful location. Our room had a balcony over-looking the surrounding hills and the swimming pool looks out on them too. The pool is a good size so you can have a proper swim. The hotel is just outside the walls of the pretty mountain village of Montone; the height means there is a nice breeze even during very hot weather. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

This is a peaceful, tranquil, beautiful place. The view from the room was stunning. Seeing the town of Montone in this distance was beautiful from morning to night. Everything in the room was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need to cook. The property is beautiful and we walked everyday on the road and trails. It is just 5 minute drive or 15 minutes walk to Montone which has several restaurants. The Wednesday morning market in Umbertine was wonderful. The whole area is green and quiet and very laid back...lovely for taking country drives. We loved visiting Gubbio. The host is very helpful, accommodating and kind. He prepared a perfect breakfast and coffee for us each morning. This place is a delight. Anyone would be lucky to stay here!

The location was great, as we traveled to Umbertide for a wedding. Room was nice, big, clean, and had all the necessary amenities. The breakfast buffet came with unlimited coffee (great plus), and the staff was very nice and welcoming. Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets close by in walking distance.

From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome at Nikis’ Resort. The staff is exceptionally friendly and we could have lunch or spend some time at the pool even though our room was not ready yet (we were early). The b&b buildings and property is just “wauw”. Breath taking. Perfect to relax from busy life. The food here was amazing as they offer breakfast with so many choices (more than other b&bs in Italy typically) and it was delicious. Same goes for lunch and dinner: the chef deserves a reward! We ate the best carbonara of our lives here. Matteo, the owner of the b&b, personally made sure every guest feels at ease and you can really feel his vision coming true of what he wants the b&b to be. Always ready to help or answer questions, just as everyone else of the staff. The room was incredible, we had an upstairs bed&bathroom and kind of living room downstairs. It was beautifully renovated and really clean. We felt at home here. Also important: good mattress, which also doesn’t seem like a giving in Italy. As mentioned before, the property is gorgeous, and also serves as a wedding venue with space for people to stay. I cannot think of a more dreamy location for a wedding if you’d wanna do it abroad. Matteo and staff, you’re doing great! Keep up the good work.

Montone is a pretty village. It is beautifully kept.

Montone is a pretty village. It is beautifully kept. The church and monastery of St Fransesco are worth seeing but only open Friday to Sunday. We also saw the College Church. Otherwise there are a couple of restaurants and one cafe that serves beer, pizza and good ice-creams. We were lucky enough to catch an open air concert in the old castle one evening, but there are no shops and little else to do.

I recently had the pleasure of returning to Montone, a picturesque hilltop village in the Umbria region of Italy, and I couldn’t recommend it more. This medieval town is like stepping back in time, offering a peaceful and authentic Italian experience that’s hard to find in the more tourist-heavy areas. Montone is full of charm, with its narrow cobblestone streets, stone houses, and stunning views over the surrounding Umbrian hills. The town feels incredibly well-preserved, with centuries-old architecture that transports you to a simpler time. It’s the perfect place for a quiet getaway or a romantic retreat. The locals are welcoming and proud of their heritage, which adds to the warmth and character of the town.

A stunning small town with a beautiful heart. Every restaurant there is a gem with delicious food that will leave you craving more. The views are magnificent and the charm of the paved streets of flower-adorned stone houses is irresistible. The people of Montone are welcoming and generous.

We have been to Montone twice now after falling in love with...

We have been to Montone twice now after falling in love with the medieval town. It’s worth a visit for a day trip- it’s a jewel of a hilltop medieval town with cobbled streets and 360 views of the countryside. The best part about it is the food - fantastic restaurant on the piazza which also has a bar that serves pizza and piadina (recommend mozzarella/tomato/ruccola for a satisfying lunch). All the restaurants have great Umbrian wines (Montefalco Sagrantino Trebbiano Grechetto). On the other side of town is Erba Luna which serves fine dining at good prices. It’s unique in being situated within the fortified walls which is a great experience. If you want views Erba Luna has a terrace or Verziere is also good. Last but not least Locanda is truly excellent - a Michelin star restaurant serving Umbrian cuisine and staff creating a very welcoming atmosphere. They have a second menu (Tipico) which has more humble food which is also excellent.

Beautifully restored and tastefully presented. Bathroom and kitchen excellent condition in a contemporary Italian style. Comfortable bed with white bed linen. Sun is on the balcony in the afternoon. I haven’t found any in this area to this standard. I was pleasantly surprised by the buzzyness of village life. It’s all happening in the main square. It looks exactly like the photos when I booked.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Fortebraccio. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff welcoming, and the views from the terrace were simply beautiful. The pool was a highlight for our family, and the location was perfect—peaceful, yet just a short walk to the heart of Montone. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay in Umbria.
