The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and the view in the morning was a lovely thing to wake up to. We enjoyed having a BBQ in the evenings and watching the falcons circle over the hillside. It only took 30 minutes to reach both the beach and Matera from the house which was very convenient. Pomarico is a small, authentic, Italian town. The locals were very friendly and accomodating despite the language barrier, people were patient and almost happy for us to attempt to speak Italian with the help of Google Translate. The local shops had amazing local produce. I had some of the best bread I have ever eaten from the bakery and the salsiccia pezzente from the butcher was fantastic. I only knew to try all of these things because our host, Antonello was so helpful and full of local knowledge. Every morning he would come and make us fresh cappucinos and provide us with breakfast. He has a great sense of humour and would give me Italian lessons and I would help to improve his (already very good) English. His wife, Stefania visited us a few times and together, they were wonderful hosts. Friendly, funny, helpful and patient. What more can you ask for? We both really enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. Grazie mille, professore Atonello ;-)

Situated in a peaceful and scenic location. Very quiet. Lucky to have dinner prepared using local ingredients - it was a highlight. Needed to drive to Matera for dinner on other nights. Approx 20 min drive. Hosts were vey hospitable, friendly and chatty. Perfect place for a break from city life.

Miglionico is a quiet, cozy, small community.

Miglionico is a quiet, cozy, small community. While its ancient 8th century 🏯castle🏰 is charming with great acoustics, the uphill trek to get there can be quite the workout. Bus🚌 service to medium-sized Matera takes merely 0:40 minutes and occurs three times daily, with one evening return bus.

I think I'll have to go back.

I think I'll have to go back. I was just passing through to visit the Castello del Malconsiglio, which is very beautiful from the outside, and the Oasi San Giuliano. For lunch or dinner, L'Hosteria del Malconsiglio is a good choice. Book in advance. I had a great experience, and the prices are in line with the dishes.

A typical southern town, and when I say "typical southern" I mean it's truly a little gem in many ways. It's small, but it has a beautiful historic center, a beautiful church, and a splendid castle. It's alive with people! Not to mention it's just a stone's throw from Matera.

An exceptional place to stay. Miglionico is a charming hill-top town that mainstream tourism has not spoilt. Antonio is a perfect host attending to your every need. He arranged for us to eat at the only restaurant open when we were staying (due to a religious procession) and then had the owners drive us back to our room. Our biggest disappointment is that we did not know how much we would have enjoyed staying here or we would have extended more than 1 night.

The place was amazing, directly near church, what makes you feel the vibe. Also Miglionico itself is a very cute and cozy small town, where you can have a walk in the evening. The owner was extremely helpful and made us feel like at home. Facilities were fresh and all of the rooms were very clean. Highly recommend this stunning place for everyone visiting Miglionico or Matera.

Antonio was very hospitable, making recommendations for places to go as well as foods to try. He also set up dinner reservations for us as we were there on a Monday. The accommodations were great and breakfast was included. If you are looking for small town charm, Miglionico is worth a visit, and only 20 minutes away from Matera

Marvellous room in a beautiful building. Very clean and comfortable. The host was very polite and of great nollage about the area. Miglionico is a pretty village at about 20 minutes drive from Matera.
