The service was excellent and very friendly, the room was nice, we ate at the hotel each night, there was a choice of starters mains and sweets, for a set price depending on how many courses you chose, (very reasonable priced, only €21 for full 3 course plus salad/veg) we had salad all three nights along with either a starter or main, 1st night pasta with venison ragu👍then pork wrapped in parma ham 👌lastly pasta with pesto😁 table wine was nice & very reasonable at €12, also loved the pinot grigio, which is my tipple, along with a few limonchello's and aperell sprites. The bar closed at 10pm but you could sit and enjoying your drinks in the lounge until whenever. We was on motorbikes and there was ample parking space in the garage and loads of fabulous roads /passes to go on, we didn't use the spa as we went out on our bikes, I would definatly recommend this as a place to stay.

The most amazing place I have ever stayed at. I am so glad we found this hotel. We considered staying in the center of Bolzano to be close to all the shops and restaurants, but were very glad we ended up here. If you have ever wondered how it would be to stay in a medival castle, then you've come to the right place. A perfect experience from the moment we arrived. They upgraded us to a huge suite without us requesting it, which was absolutely stunning. The castle itself sits on top of a hill with beautiful views all over the valley down to Bolzano. Bolzano is just a 15 minute drive from the castle, but I recommend visiting the local town as well as this was far more cozy and no tourists. The breakfast buffet is all you can ask for. I spend over 100 nights a year in a hotel, and this is by far one of the best I´ve ever had. The infinity pool is stunning and the views from the pool deck is out of this world. Take time and enjoy and aperitif at the bistro & bar in the backyard and make sure to try their on site restaurant. When you are seated at the breakfast or dinner table, you will feel like a king or queen in the midst of a beautifully decorated medieval village. I do hope I can come back to this lovely place sometime in the future.

I have visited Kaltern for many years now and just recently found this gem - by far my favourite new hotel in the village. It has been completely renovated and just opened. It's beautifully located in the middle of vineyards - yet its in the city center, with an amazing view of the village (and even the lake). The rooms were great: sizeable and very very cozy, furnished with taste and a lot of attention to detail. The hotel has its own wine bar & bistro, with great food and wine (breakfast was AMAZING!). All of the staff was super nice and accommodating. Will definitely come back!

A strategic location for seeing and doing many things. The emerald lake is beautiful. The Rio Sass canyon is challenging but worth a visit. The town is charming, with plenty of amenities, bars, restaurants, and various shops.

We were there on our way home.

We were there on our way home. It's a destination we could have stayed longer, but at the end of your holiday, you want to go home. So we only stayed two nights. Fondo is highly recommended, and so is the surrounding area.

Fondo is beautifully situated.

Fondo is beautifully situated. The highlight is the gorge that runs right through the village. Visits are only possible with a guided tour. With the guest card, you receive discounted admission. There are supermarkets in the village and plenty of restaurants.

Fondo is a very beautiful village with small, winding streets. Everything is within walking distance. A paradise for hikers and cyclists. You can find everything you need for daily life here, such as a pharmacy and a gas station. We were there in March; the weather was good, but not many restaurants (lokake) were open yet.

Fondo is a small village surrounded by greenery. A visit to the Riobass Canyon is highly recommended. There's a small lake a 20-minute walk from the town center: Lago Smeraldo is a pleasant spot, ideal for a picnic.

Fabulous views from our room through sunshade slats. We were tired and had three course fixed menu dinner in the evening, average but well priced, nice house wine. Courteous, friendly staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Comfortable beds and clean room. Hotel located slightly above Fondo, nice walk round the lake below hotel. Good value for money. Would stay again.
