whilst the hotel was old, it didn’t detract from it at all. we chose it because it was across the road from the Herculaneum historical site. the receptionist was lovely, the breakfast filled us up for the day. we were there on New Year’s Day and the town was exceptionally quiet, so much so that we found it difficult to find somewhere to eat at night. parking was a bit tricky and we got a fine by not understanding the rules.

The room was very large and the furnishings were sensational. There were small sweet croissants, jam, and honey, as well as lots of biscuits. The room looks very nice. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the air conditioning is excellent. I particularly liked the staff. The room is cleaned daily. The owner, Lucia, was very nice and helpful. She gave us excellent advice. The vending machine with food and drinks was also practical.

This is our second time staying at Palazzo Adele and it will always be our first choice when visiting Naples! We can’t recommend this hotel enough, the team are so friendly and always available to help. On both occasions they have let us leave our bags in the reception until our flight, as well as use the hotel car park which has been incredibly handy! The staff really do make this place so special. The rooms are such great value for money, the beds are comfy, they're lovely and modern and have everything you need including a fridge, plenty of space etc. The rooms are regularly cleaned and there is also a community kitchen which is a rare find! The terrace area is also lovely and spacious. The location is great, just a stones throw away from Ercolano’s vintage clothing markets and just a short walk to lovely cafes and restaurants. It feels like a safe area which is always a must when we are travelling. Thank you Antonio and team for always making our stay in Naples special :) we'll be back!

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at...

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at Villa Durante. Both places didn't disappoint. We also found good restaurants there. Pedestrian pavements were better than in Naples but still difficult to walk on with luggage. It is a good place to stay if travelling on to Pompeii or Sorrento.

Perfect smaller alternative to Pompeii. Some places better preserved, shorter walking experience, walkable in few hours/half day, cheaper. Better than Pompeii for family with easily bored kids, less crowdy.

You can just soak up the history, not just in the 2000 year old Roman ruins of Herculeaum but also as you stroll through the lanes and passages of Ercolono itself, a wonderful town in it's own right.

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our...

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our appartment had beautiful views of the bay of Naples for a lot less than you pay in Sorrento. It’s a very good spot to catch the train to Pompeii ( the ruins are right beside Pompeii Scavi station change at Torre de Annunziata) Sorrento, Vesuvius and the stunning Herculaneum. There are plenty of great places to eat and a few volcanic sand beaches to relax after a long walk up a volcano. We enjoyed our pizzas at RoVi and walked into Portici for drinks at Vivarium’s rooftop bar and a fantastic seafood tasting menu at Da Guisieppe al Granatello

Nice area to walk around although many restaurants close in the afternoon and then open after 7pm. Some were closed for the summer season. There was some litter on the streets. People were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed 3 nights, and Ercolano was very convenient for visiting each of Pompeii, Ercolano, and Mt Vesuvio. We would suggest visiting both archeological sites as they provide complementary insights into Roman life and culture. A local guide by the name of Marily(Marialibera Guadagno) was recommended to us and she was brilliant. Having a private guide with her knowledge and humour added immeasurably to our experience.

A fantastic apartment; newly refurbished, fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Emanuele was a brilliant host; really helpful and friendly. The location is great - tucked away in the heart of Ercolano, but close to the ruins of Herculaneum, and a short walk to either the small beach or the station for trains to Pompeii or Naples. We had a lovely stay and would thoroughly recommend. Just be aware that parking would be difficult if you were to drive and there are steps up to the apartment.

the hotel is lovely and well kept. The gardens and pool area are beautiful with the Roof top bar providing beautiful views for a night cap. The rooms are very modern and clean. The hotel offered a free shuttle to the local train station in the town of Ercolano (where there were more restaurants, and a 25-minute walk away from Portici which had more restaurants)

Great location for visiting Ercolano (5 minutes walk) & Pompei (20 minutes on train). Enzo was very welcoming & though he speaks English, we chatted in Italian which I enjoyed! Very comfortable room which allowed us to renew our energy after each of 2 longs days exploring the the ruins! Near market, shops, cafés, restaurants.
