Bolzano is one of those cases that are difficult to describe without risking undermining its beauty and complexity. A witness of the conflicts and renaissance of Europe, this Italian city is the capital of the German speaking province of South Tyrol. Located in the Adige River Valley, it is surrounded by hills crowned by castles, and framed by the Dolomites Alps.
After reaching the local railway station, follow the Bahnhofsallee or Viale della Stazione and you’ll reach Walther Square, where the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady is located. The shops along the arcaded street of Via dei Portici will lead you towards the market, located in Goethe Strasse. The display of colourful vegetables and flowers encompasses the beautiful buildings, while some of the best luxury hotels in Bolzano are located nearby.
The city is famous for its Christmas Market, but be aware that most of the hotels in Bolzano get sold out quickly during this time! A stroll around the old residential quarter of Gries and a visit to the many nearby castles is a must.
Whether you arrive at the local Dolomites Airport or the larger Verona Airport, check out the Bolzano accommodation deals on Booking.com before travelling!
Fantastic city with a small town feeling. Everyone is super-friendly, it's very clean and well organised, the public transport is easy to use, runs on time and cheap. Food and the local wines are wonderful, this is a lovely place.

I highly recommend that if you visit Bolzano, you use the furnicular and go up to SopaBolzano. The ride is wonderful and you have a panoramic view. There is also a train on the top that you can go all along the top and look at the view. We had coffee and gelato at the little café at the top of the mountain. Such a relaxing, nice time. There is also very good shopping in Bolzano and restaurants. We had dinner at Paulaner Stuben—it was awesome!!

It was so much better than we expected.
It was so much better than we expected. Perfect combination between Austrian and Italian culture. You could eat schnitzels ánd pasta in almost every restaurant. Not too touristy (we went in September). Within 15 minutes you could go to the mountains by cable car for little money. The mountains (via Oberbozen for example) were very beautiful, wide and quiet. You could take a 100 year old tram in Oberbozen that went through the little villages up the mountains. 100% coming back! Tip: go by train! It was very accessible, we came from Innsbruck which is only a 2 hr train ride from Bolzano, including breathtaking views.

We loved the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, the MMM Fermian and the victory monument. Oberon Restaurant was an outstanding Pizza place and the staff are friendly too. We stayed at the Roma Ariston Apartments' and we had a great time there. The mountains around Bolzano were super cool and we highly recommend Bolzano.

Bolzano is very beautiful.
Bolzano is very beautiful. The cathedral is simply out of the world and the little roads and side alleys are beautiful. We took a guided tour of the city and could go into mamy pretty courtyards and churches and renovated palaces...
Great place to make a stopover when traveling from northern Europe to mid/south Italy. The hotel surprised us positively by replacing our standard room for a huge suite. Rooms were of the top quality and breakfast very well. The only small minus is the size of the garage which was full when we arrived, nevertheless it was not a problem to park the car outside of regular parking space, of course not disturbing anybody else. Everyone (as almost everywhere in Alte Adige) speaks German so it is easy to communicate.
- once you pass the gate you feel like entering a castle
- the parking area was incredible and convenient
- room service was very good
- premises was truly fascinating and cozy
- application of the tv was ok
- the backyard was the highlight of the hotel with - - - incredible pool view and nice cafe-like area (although no one was there to get any orders) was so calming and heart warming
- staff were professional and welcoming
Excellent location and suite accommodation. Nick was so patient and helpful with two exhausted confused seniors when we arrived after a long stressful drive that I couldn’t praise him and his staff enough. Wonderful breakfast provided as well. Bolzano is an amazing city and area and we would highly recommended staying at the Pepper lounge and suites. A Bolzano pass is also provided.
Thank you Nick.
Hotel Feichter is technically a 2 star, but is as nice as 3 or 4 star hotels I've stayed in. The hotel was simple but attractive, and it was immaculate. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and it was the best breakfast we enjoyed in Italy. A "Bolzano Card" was also included in our stay which got us into a number of attractions. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Very nice hotel with an excellent location . The room was spacious with a large bathroom. Our check-in and check-out were fast and the staff very professional and helpful. There was an abundance of choices for breakfast. Overall, we are very pleased with our stay and upon returning to Bolzano, will check in again with no hesitation. Lovely stay!
The worst experience of my vacation in Italy.
Bed, restroom, carpet, towels, everything was so super dirty, anable to be used. I saw literally what the previous guest had eaten.
The staff didn't answer to mail after I reported the circumstance in the room. At the end of the story, we had to find another place to stay.
The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Breakfast staff was really welcoming and we had a good choice for breakfast The hotel is quite central, close to the bus station and train station and walking distance from the main spots in Bolzano. I totally recommend it.
Best option for staying in Bolzano - only hotel that is not horribly overpriced - it is only overpriced :) Lovely receptionist, clean modern room with very nice bathroom, WiFi, cupboard, spare blanket/pillow, underground parking,
I will come again .. for the 7th time I think..
La Briosa is an amazing hotel and a great base for exploring Bolzano and nearby regions. The room was simply superb, I had room to do my work with a great view of the nearby mountains, comfy beds, immaculately designed with beautiful timber and stone. And the breakfast was A+++++
The room was fine: spacious, quiet and very warm. Small balcony with an amazing view of the Dolomites. Good bath amenities. Free private garage. Complimentary Bolzano card which we used for the cable car to Oberbozen, and the station is 5 minute's walk from the hotel.
Nice old hotel located next to city center in a quiet, lovely garden. Excellent a la carte breakfast and very good coffee. Nice and helpful stuff.
Beautiful Bolzano old city center is only few steps from the hotel.
Covered parking is located next to the hotel.
The hotel design and appearance was unique and pleasing. The room was very comfortable and the windows were large and easy to operate. Breakfast was very good with a selection of foods to choose from. The staff throughout the stay were friendly and helpful!
we stayed only for one night as it was a pass through. roomed was excellent and quite big. We tried the restaurant and we had a splendid set Menu that ended up ta very long day. Anyone for a hotel in Bolzano area but not in he centre i fully recommended it
Top shelf best hotel ever. The staff (Ann) super nice and helpful (and speaks 4 languages). The gym is AMAZING + pool and sauna! The dinner at the restaurant: best food and service I’ve had yet on my 3 month cycle tour. The breakfast was also fantastic.
We liked the history of the building and the location in the old town of Bolzano.
Friendly staff and good coffee machine in the rooms...and a very nice view from the roof-terrace.
The view from the hotel is spectacular and the homely feel you get from the staff, the Bolzano card, the dinner was tasty and different every evening…. Totally worth it
