The old medieval city of Bassano del Grappa is a wonderful place to walk around with the historic wooden bridge, open squares with cafés and excellent restaurants. The excellent Civic Museum, the Poli Grappa Museum (with a grappa tasting!) and the Pallazzo Sturm with it's enormous 'King Kong Rhino' stainless steel sculpture, museum of ceramics and the history of printing in Bassano are all well worth visiting. Students of 20th century history will know the awful events of the 1944 massacre of Italian partisans. A perfect place for a couple of days break which we combined with a few days in Venice.

This was (I think) my 8th trip to this town.

This was (I think) my 8th trip to this town. I sometimes make 100's of kilometres detour to visit my favourite Italian town. This time was no exception. Partially because of Nardini (heh heh) but also because of its cultural and historical heritage, the beauty, the cheerful atmosphere ... Bassano always greets you as an old friend, if you come for just one day or stay a week ... Maybe it's because of its sad history that it makes you appreciate, enjoy and respect life so much more. I wish I could live in this town. Maybe one day ... Who knows. If one can fall in love with a town - this is the one.

Lovely town with a rich history, beautiful suburbs and a lively city centre with plenty of food options to have all kinds of meals, from sophisticated dinners to snacks and sandwiches. Excellent pastry and ice cream shops; plus grappa stores if you like to drink. The historic bridge is a masterpiece; the river Brenta and the mountains surrounding the town make for a beautiful landscape. It's a small city that you can visit in a day but you'll discover much more if you can stay overnight.

Bassano is a picturesque town steeped in history.

Bassano is a picturesque town steeped in history. It has an historic wooden bridge which spans the river Brenta which flows through the town. It's well situated to reach Venice, Vicenza, Padova and Verona by excellent train or bus services. Venice is only an hour by train and the 100+ mile return journey costs about 14 Euro! You can also take a trip up into the mountains to Trento by diesel train. The historic centre is a very safe and pleasant place to walk round. There are lots of bars, restaurants, pizzerias etc in the 3 piazzas. Our favourite place to eat was Bella Capri pizzeria/restaurant.

We were two couples, each had a floor and their own bathroom, which was great. Kitchen was typical, not amazing but fine. Stayed in May, loved the landing/patio for the view of the city and of the bridge. Loved being on the less busy side of the bridge but only one minute to the other side. Host was available, thorough, and kind. Parking is not super easy, but we found some each night just by being a bit patient.

Definitely want to come to visit the city's museums, did not have time for them this time. city's centre is very lovely to stroll. the lady in one of the liqueurs shop near bridge was very nice. i had grappa's testing and bought several small bottles as souvenirs.

Nice old hotel in the centre of Bassano del Grappa, it is a beautiful old building in a square near the centre. Very close to the famous bridge. Nice staff and about a 15 min walk from the station I will stay there again

Hotel very near the city centre. Large room, quite silent. The bed was of good size and confortable. Large bathroom. Free parking available (and if it is full there is a covered garage under the hotel for a small fee).

The location was perfect for our situation. It was only 3kms from our business location and about 1.5kms from the center of Bassano Del Grappa. The walk into town was great. Breakfast was simple but adequate.
