Good location, isolated and very quiet with good views.
Room was a good size with a comfortable bed a decent shower and fast internet.
Breakfast was very good with a wide selection, but there were no eggs for some reason.

Clean modern hotel and the staff searched high and low to find us a plug for the basin which apparently no one had ever asked for before

We had a large room with a sea view, wich was clean and quiet . A young girl st the reception, who also had cooked for us, was very friendly. We had a very delicious dinner in the hotel. For breakfast we could order fresh eggs.

Cozy town tucked against a black sand beach with beautiful mountainous terrain and multiple viewpoints and other attractions within short driving distance. Definitely a town everyone should stop in when they are visiting Iceland.

Must try black crust pizza.
Must try black crust pizza. The lookout point at Dyrhólaey panoramic views, don't miss it and of course the Black Sand beach. To visit the crashed US plane, either we can walk for 3 hours (both ways) or take shuttle which will cost ISK3000 per person.

Vik is a picturesque gem tucked along the country's stunning south coast! Reynisfjara Beach is easily accessible, where black sand meets crashing waves with towering basalt columns as the backdrop. The wind can get too strong which makes a part of the beach dangerous (sneaker waves warning), but it is still well worth visiting. The town is charming with cozy cafes (try the black crust pizza!), the locals are warm and welcoming. This town is the perfect location to embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in Iceland's raw beauty.

We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it.
We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it. It is quite a small town, but has a big supermarket (kronan), a really great quality hiking clothes/supplies store, plus a number of cafes and places to eat. We recommend Sudur Vik Restaurant especially.
We did the Katla Track ice cave tour which was amazing and left from Vik!! Also recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides Snowmobile tour - meeting point 25 mins drive from Vik. Black Sand beach is great, as is local open air pool.
We stayed in the Vik hotel which is fabulous, but as we were there for three days, I would have preferred an apartment. The hotel also operates the Vik Apartments (which I hadn't realised before I booked) - they look really good.

We based our family of 5 in Vik to explore the southern coast over 3 nights with our rental car. We found it easier to have one base rather than a different hotel each night.
We visited the Skogafoss Waterfall, Black Sand Beach, YODA caves, gorge hike, Glacier walk at Skaftafell and then onto the Glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach.
We didn’t eat out as it was expensive for what appeared average food so we went to the local supermarket and cooked back at our self catered apartment.
Vik offers lots of adventure based companies who organise tour and expeditions.
The location of the hotel is perfect. You have the famous Black Diamond Beach just a walk away, a petrol station, restaurants and the most beautiful view to wake up to. We got snowed in for two days and the hotel were very accommodating and understanding. We were able to organise to stay in the hotel for another night at the same cost as initially booking. Breakfast was lovely and the room was very nice and clean. The bathroom is wonderful and I had one of the best showers during my stay in Iceland. Overall highly recommended.
The architecture and interior design stand really out. Vik is a tiny community at the southern tip of Iceland. Hard to find a decent coffee. This place is like a space ship that landed there. A great place to arrive a long day of outdoor activities. Great games room for the kids to go to pre- and post dinner. The highlight was the restaurant, which is a double height atrium, filled with light. Simple, straight forward dishes, executed well.
Nestled away in a small valley just east of Vik Hotel Katla is a hidden gem. Arnar was an outstanding front desk man/ manager dealt with him the night of check-in and at checkout. He was so friendly and helped us with all questions.
The room was clean and very modern. Very clean as well. Many amenities that we did not use due to time constraints. The included breakfast was phenomenal. Would recommend this place just off Iceland's Ring Road.
This was an extraordinary stylish and beautiful hostel. My daughter and I stayed in a room with 6 bunkbeds. The showers and bathrooms were spotless. There was a small bar and you could purchase coffee and baked goods for breakfast. We didn't cook but they had a great kitchen for those who prefer to carry and make their own meals. The location was excellent on the same road as one of the most famous black sand beaches in Iceland.
It was our first night in Iceland and the location was perfect for our planned road trip; the staff was exceptional especially the gentleman who greeted us and prepared our breakfast (I think his name was Constantine) and the room was very cozy and clean. I highly recommend this location for travelers embarking on their own road trip around this beautiful country.
The hotel is fantastic given the Icelandic standards. Additionally it has a cossy design and very comfortable rooms. The size of the room is much bigger that usual and everything is very cleaned. The breakfast was very good. staff was nice and very polite. the building is close to the ring road , but you cannot hear the cars passing.
One of the cutest places we have ever stayed. The host treated us like family members. The house itself is located near the most famous beach of the Iceland, you can get there by foot. And after driving 2 hours around the Vik to see the Northern lights,we saw them in front of the house, when we came back.
Perfect! This apartment has everything we needed in a beautiful location. Easy to pick up keys at hotel right behind apartments. This is the most comfortable place we have stayed in all of Iceland. Highly recommend. Even had washer dryer that’s e weren’t expecting which was a pleasant surprise.
The hotel is located on a hill that you got perfect view of the black beach. But noted that most of the room is facing to the parking lot or the back hill. The breakfast is super great (in comparison with other Iceland same level hotels). The room is big, clean and quiet.
very pastoral, surrounded by farm animals and beautiful scenery! very comfortable bed, nice kitchen and living room for your use making it one of the best guest houses we have stayed at in Iceland so far! would definitely come back again if traveling around Iceland!
The host had allotted our cottages next to each other as per our initial request. The location of the property is just between dryholaey and Vik beach. Having a dishwasher was helpful, which we did not find otherwise in other properties during our stay in Iceland.
Hrund was incredibly nice and accommodating, even gave us homemade bread one evening. The room is clean and cozy, water is hot, and it’s walking distance to all of Vik’s main restaurants and stores. Perfect place to explore the south of Iceland.
Very clean rooms and great location - around 15 mins drive from Vik. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast for us - the best we had in Iceland. Lots of home made fish and delicious food options. I would 100% go back.
Everything about this hotel is perfect. The staff were amazing, the room was incredible and the food was the best we have had on our entire holiday if not ever. If you come Iceland you should definitely stay here.
Probably the nicest place we stayed in Iceland. Beautiful spacious suite overlooking the coast. Whilst its not cheap it was the best value for money against anywhere else we stayed, just because it was so lovely.
Our room was large, clean, and recently renovated. The dinner buffet and the breakfast buffet (included in our fare) were great for a hotel in a remote part of Iceland. Would definitely stay here again.
Very pleasant staff, great bar and restaurant, stunning location. Vik is the place to be for your adventures on Iceland's southern coast, and the hotel Kria is the perfect place to stay.
I like the breakfast, the room and the bathroom. The bathroom is very comfy and huge. It just feel like at home, the overall ambience is awesome, one of the best stay i have in iceland.
Beautiful location- pretty standard euro style hotel. Lovely overall, best of the 5 hotels I stayed in in Iceland. Excellent breakfast. Lots of parking. Amazing view.
