The bedrooms were big and spacy. Breakfast was not officialy included in the price, but it turned out that there was coffee/tea, milk, cereals and jam. You only needed to add bread yourself. There was a refridgerator, dishes/cutleri and a table, where you could eat. The owner was extremely kind and serviceminded.

The hike to the island is very nice, we did it at 11pm after our dinner. You have to visit the church. We loved this village and his traditional houses. We eat very well at Sjávarpakkhúsið restaurant.

Slightly quirky, remote town, with an interesting harbour. A few good places to eat/drink, and plenty to see and do around the surrounding peninsula - national park, hiking volcanoes, whale-watching, and even trying fermented shark. Pretty, colourful houses in town make it a relaxing place to stay too.

Ended up being out of our way on our trip on the ring road due to weather and a change in what we decided to do. Very cute little town with a delicious bakery. Didn't see much of the town really.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels...

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

Hotel Karolina is a beautifully calm & tastefully decorated little hotel. We loved our stay here. The harbour town is pretty & the hotel is ideally located to wander around it & stop at excellent restaurants & cafes, all within minutes walking distance. Very comfortable beds & rooms. There is also a lovely communal area & the breakfast is excellent. Super friendly & helpful staff too.

hotel stuff is kindly, he kept waiting for us till 10:30 pm, and helped us carry the big luggages to our room which locates at 3rd floor. Very nice. And the location is very good — the moment you step out, you're right on the very street that served as the filming location for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

The hotel overlooks the harbour and rooms are clean comfortable and breakfast is excellent. Daniel was friendly and very welcoming . There is a Catholic Church in hotel which adds an interesting dimension as it is part of the history. Highly recommend the hotel .
