Our stay at Kerala Cottage was an absolute delight! This is closest that I have gotten to stay near a beach with the sea being just a few steps away. You can hear the sound of the waves inside the room. Far from the hustle bustle of town, this place is serene. Great destination for a dopamine detox. Great hospitality from the owner and staff - always ready to help and make our stay comfortable - with a smile! You won't regret the stay. Note: Seasonal beach. Best time being November - March

Tiny Temple is a rare gem set back from a quiet section of 'the strip' close to Black Beach. Swati, the host, couldn't be sweeter. He was really helpful and made us feel completely at home. The location and view from the rooftop/deck is unbeatable and the price was totally reasonable (we were there just before 'high' season). New Wifi is being installed which will be the cherry on top! Another perk was the fine folks at Elina's Clifftop Restraunt (next door) who were really accommodating and even offered room/rooftop service. My daughter and I took a risk on a spot without reviews and in this case we're so glad we did. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I had an amazing stay at this lovely house, just a short walk from the beach, with clean, comfortable rooms and the kindest host, Justin. Justin truly made the experience special – from the smooth, warm check-in to constantly checking in on guests, sharing local recommendations, and making sure everything about the stay felt easy and pleasant. Justin was able to help out with rental bike and local transportation on request. Huge thanks to the staff for curating such an awesome breakfast during my stay! The portions were really generous, the food tasted great, and they always had a smile on their faces. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy beachside stay with genuine hospitality and an amazing host like Justin.

We had a wonderful stay at Sajjoys. Excellent service. I had a last-minute change regarding an extra guest, and the staff handled it seamlessly. A special thanks to Praveen, who was incredibly cordial and helpful in organising the change without any stress. Overall, a fantastic experience. The rooms were good, the breakfast was delicious, and the location is very convenient Highly recommended!

Due to the long weekend, north cliff and north-side beaches...

Due to the long weekend, north cliff and north-side beaches were hopelessly crowded. But the south cliff was really peaceful and soothing to walk around and the beaches were cleaner. Kayaking at the Mangroves is a must, some of the prettiest scenery in the area.

What I liked most was the view from my balcony looking out to the sea. A room without a view would not be so agreeable. The grounds were beautiful with lovely tropical flowers and plants. There is an agreeable open air area for meals and breakfast. The breakfast was cooked to order. One day I had English breakfast and one day banana pancakes. The employees are helpful and agreeable. The pool area is also nice.

Very nice coast, it’s possible to walk for kilometres along the coast. It’s quite turistic but mainly locals so it doesn’t bother too much. It’s possible to get into the sea only in very few places but I wouldn’t recommend it. The town has lots of markets, bakeries and restaurants. There are several yoga studios along the coast.

It is a beautiful place with plenty of beaches, greenery, small town shops, water sports and the most beautiful mangroves. There are also nice places like the Jatayu Park and the Shri Narayana Guru Samadhi and ancient temples that are a treat to visit.

Beautiful views worth seeing.

Beautiful views worth seeing. However most visitors are rowdy which affects the comfort of people seeking a more down to earth experience. Restaurants often out price locals and cater to Western tastes; they seek a specific type of well put together, middle or upper class traveller. Monsoon season is likely a more relaxing time to be here with less rowdy visitors from out of town/state. Little cleanup efforts for the beaches. Bad sanitation and waste control. Waste burning unfortunately normalised.

I stopped by the hostel before checking-in. The place looked amazing. A great location at the edge of North cliff. Amazing patio with seating, helpful staff. I was looking forward to stay but unfortunately I had an injury and had to go to a hospital instead. The injury required stitches and it took over a month to heal. The staff and the manager helped me to cancel my booking and get my money back. If I ever return to Varkala, I hope to stay with them!

Superb location in a more secluded beach only 20 mins walk from the busier North Cliff of Varkala Beach. We loved the hammock and deck chairs between the palm trees , easy access to the beach and the cottage rooms with balconies, the rooms are big and stylish, you will feel like home! Staff very attentive and striving to make customers happy. ABundant breakfast options and good restaurant food. Perfect for couples!

Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. As other reviewers have said the location is just perfect. A little bit further from the busy part of Varkala cliff, so the beach is less crowded and more peaceful here. The hotel rooms are very spacious, clean and has everything you might need. Staff were super helpful and friendly too.
