Very smooth stay in Green Olive: Very nice room; comfy bed, good shower Breakfast was very good too and I had one other meal in the hotel restaurant and it was nice and tasty. They organize a free airport pick up; and they also help organize the driver to Ajanta and Ellora caves. I also did a half day city tour which was very interesting as well. All in all - perfect base for exploring the area.

Being able to drink a coffee on the serene lawn, away from the honking traffic, made us feel well balanced. There are two or three high class hotels in Aurangabad, but none have the authentic character of Vivanta. You feel like a Maharaja! The rooms are spacious and they all look out on the enclosed garden and pool. There’s a ground level where the rooms have a porch and an upper level where the rooms have a balcony. We recommend the upper level rooms. They have more light and a better view. The rooms are cleaned at least twice a day. When you pass a member of housekeeping in the corridor they always wish you a pleasant day and ask if they can do something for you. We especially remember the broad smile of Mr. Shivaji. He made us feel right at home. Having breakfast is very enjoyable! As early as 7 am you can comfortably sit outside on the lawn, listening to unobtrusive music being played live by a musician while waiters bring you freshly made dosa. The staff is fast and caring. They give you a variety of suggestions. They remember your room number and how you like your coffee. The food is very tasty. We felt pampered every single day. A special recommendation to Mr. Shyamal, Mr. Dhiraj, Mr.Suresh, Mr. Amol and Mr Santosh! Lastly, we’d like to express our great gratitude to Ms. Shital! She enriched our stay with interesting sightseeing tips and when she overheard at breakfast that my wife had bought a sari she offered to come to the room and help her put it on. She took such care in dressing my wife. The cherry on the cake was when she showed up with fresh flowers and wove them through my wife’s hair. Absolutely beautiful! We took stunning pictures in the garden and went to dinner in transitional clothing. That evening the chef Sainath Rathod gaves us an exceptional dining experience. We highly recommend his cuisine. Be sure to try out both restaurants. Explore his take on Asian fusion at Tea House and ask for the chef’s special at Latitude.

Aurangabad now Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is famous for Kailash Temple , Ellora and Ajanta caves. Stunning sculpture of these three is unimaginable. One whole mountain carved into A temple which was partly destroyed by Aurangzeb a mughal king ,because his religion directs to do so. The next temple is Bhima Shanker one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, the most attractive thing is the natural beauty around this temple . This is a reserved forest area and purest wet fog is seen almost through out the year. You find yourselves in the mid of clouds feeling mysticaly.You can stay there in the forests with due permission of Forest department. Plan for atleast 3 days .

We loved exploring the cave temples of Ajanta and Ellora.

We loved exploring the cave temples of Ajanta and Ellora. The fort at Daulatabad was a step back in time to see how Indian fortifications worked in the Middle Ages. It was quite an experience to see how Paithani and Himroo saris are woven by skilled craftsmen and women. I enjoyed visiting Bibi ka Maqbara and trying to fool friends and relatives by pretending we had gone to see the Taj Mahal. It was also a moving experience to visit Aurangzeb’s tomb. The road to Ajanta is very bumpy and parts of it are not in a good state of repair. A great deal of walking and climbing is involved in visiting the cave systems, though there is a shuttle bus at Ajanta and electric vehicles at Ellora.

Ajanta and Ellora caves are truly exceptional pieces of art. Never imagined they would be so grand and beautiful. Bibi ka Maqbara is also worth visiting specially in the evening. The whole structure glows up once the lights are on. Do Visit the zoo if you are travelling with kids.

Lots to see - the two full days we spent in Aurangabad were...

Lots to see - the two full days we spent in Aurangabad were not enough. Ideally you need 3 days at least to cover Ajanta, Ellora, the fort, temples and Bibi Ka Maqbara. We used a taxi arranged by our hotel for our sightseeing trips. Certain places in the city can be crowded so traffic can be slow at times. Facilities provided at Ajanta and Ellora were disappointing for a Unesco Heritage site. Government/ASI needs to do better. Travelers to the two cave sites would be advised to pack their own food and water as access to these inside the gates is minimal or non-existent.

hotel pariwar is a great property to stay in if you are visiting the Ajanta and Ellora caves. For the price/type of hotel, we were really happy here. The staff and owner were SO helpful and this made our time in Arugnabad so much more enjoyable. The owner advised us on what day is best to visit the caves, the cost of tuk tuks ans helped printing out our flight bookings.

Quiet area surrounded by greenery (which for Aurangabad downtown is quite unexpected), terrasse on rooftop, no breakfast but number of restaurants and hotels just nearby. Clean and all what you would expect for such an affordable price. Venkateswara takes care of his guests, and he likes to share his smiles and good mood.

Aurangabad is the worst but this hostel is the best there! 😄 Rooms are cosy and clean, showers are great (pressure & hot!), common room is nice, wifi is fast. Central bus station is a 15’ walk, and you have a cool foodcourt next door.
