Cosy and comfortable room, lovely woman running the place. Right next to the Kerry cliffs. The lady left us some breakfast food in the fridge too which was a nice touch. Totally recommend.

The accommodation was perfect for our family; lovely rooms, v nice to have two en suites, spacious living space for the evening etc. Marie, the host, couldn't possibly have been nicer to us! She has foods, milk, tea and coffee etc ready on arrival, and treated us to locally made scones in the morning (so stay on Friday if you can, as that's baking day!) She has excellent tips for local food and activities. And she had free tickets for the cliffs for us; an absolute must-see.

A very charming place. I only wish we had stayed longer than one night. You can take a peaceful walk from there to the nearby cliffs, which are truly spectacular.

No breakfast (as advertised) but the tea/coffee/cereal/milk and yoghurt provided was more than sufficient to start the day, toaster, kettle and cleanliness was greatly appreciated, highly recommended Even though we reached only after 7:45pm and left by 9:30 am, it was a stay that we enjoyed

We loved our room. It looked out over the harbour and was spacious, so comfortable. Nice to have tea and coffee facilities, and a bathtub. The kingsized bed was also fabulous. We were also very impressed with the restaurant, the food was excellent. Breakfast was so good with many options, and we enjoyed our dinner as well. Linda at the reception was very friendly and helpful.

Lots to do and see!

Lots to do and see! If thing I would suggest if it's raining or cloudy at all don't go to sea!! We went to the Skelligs. €295 for 5 of us, couldn't see much! Disappointing to say the least! The Skellig Museum on Valentia island across the bridge was surprisingly very good. It looks funny outside & we didn't rate it much! The back of it is what you see first! The take away on the pier was disappointing. Fish & chips wasn't what you'd think it would be beside the sea. The food in both local pubs fabulous. Best to book the Moorings for evening meals. It's very busy. Kerry cliffs well worth seeing also.

I was only in Portmagee for one day for a boat trip to Skellig Michael. It was ideal for that purpose as boats depart from the port in town. There were several small restaurants in town but they filled up when I was there. I'd recommend making reservations.

Whilst there are of course 1000 beautiful places to visit in Ireland, Portmagee needs to be at the top of your list whilst in southern Ireland. The beaches, cliffs & surrounding valleys are post card perfect and also very close to Skellig Michael and other amazing destinations. We will 100% be back to visit again, can't recommend it highly enough.

The venue was lovely, and quiet.

The venue was lovely, and quiet. Perfect for a long awaited rest. The facilities were well maintained and clean. The proprietor was very nice, and attentive to our requirements. The location was perfect for our requirements, to observe the night sky. No light pollution. We had a really nice experience. Thanks to all involved. 👍👍👍

Portmagee and the surrounding area is an absolutely gorgeous part of Kerry! Very easy to get around, a car is recommended. Definitely check out the Kerry Cliffs, stunning scenery and you can spot the Skellig Islands on a clear day. The Fishermans Bar in Portmagee and Driftwood Surf Cafe in St Finians Bay were great finds. We also loved the Fire & Ice sauna at Ballinskelligs beach, and the nearby Cafe Cois Tra for a coffee and sandwich. We did the Skellig Island boat tour from the visitor centre on Valentia Island and really enjoyed it! Depending on the weather the sea can be a bit bumpy so would recommend a sea sickness tablet on a windy day

Portmagee was very nice to stay in the night before...

Portmagee was very nice to stay in the night before travelling to the Skelligs. We ate at 4 of the restaurants in town--the two big pubs were both lovely and the cafes were also great for breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure we could have spent more than one night here unless we were also cycling/doing hikes, but our night before our boat trip was excellent. The tour of the Skelligs was one of the highlights of the trip, and the trip out to Portmagee is absolutely worth it to see the islands.

We enjoyed our two day stay a lot in the Bluebell Rose. From the beginning with a warm welcome , the super cute sleeping room and the well equipped kitchen and even the donkeys and sheeps close by our room made our son every time happy. Its nice to stay a little outside of Portmagee with Just a few meter walk to the entrance of the Kerry Cliffs. The fee for an adult is 5eu and a day pass was included in the stay also a little but enough breakfast. We can highly recommend a stay, don't wait too long to book it. Thanks !
