Perfect location as a base to explore Connemara, Clifden, Galway, Salthill and Aran Islands. Teresa was the perfect host, everything was catered for, really helpful providing that personal touch and a beautiful breakfast that set us up for the day. We will most definitely be returning!

While the hotel’s corridor and hallway felt dated, we were caught by surprise when we entered the room. Smelled newly refurbished and so modern, super spacious as well. Everything felt so clean, toilet and all. It was honestly one of our best stays for the two weeks road trip. Room was so new that the fridge wasn’t plugged in, but not an issue to us. Breakfast was great too.

Overall, a dream stay. Beautiful grounds, beautiful building and luxurious decor. Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of lovely little touches like classic movies each evening, gourmet dinner in the Pullman restaurant which is actually two train carriages from the original Orient Express, stylish cocktail bar and relaxing reading room in the Abbey.

Friendly staff at the reception. Clean and modern facilities. There's a grocery store within the building. The bus stop is just around the corner and the bus will take you to Galway city center in no time. There's limited parking within the building and it costs €7 per day, however there's also a bigger, free parking space available a short 5 minutes walk away (we used it when the private parking within the building was full).

Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Spacious rooms. Helpful friendly staff. Breakfast was fabulous, lots on offer. Also caught up on washing here through the hotel - great service! A little out of the way, but an easy 20 min walk to Galway centre  (or if you dont want to walk, there is a free phone service available to dial a taxi).

We had a kind of suite with a bedroom and separate TV room. Even the bathroom was extremely spacious and had a window. The shower was just awesome and there was even a bathtub (which we didn't use). The bed was comfy. We had breakfast in the pub one morning which was very good (though the only vegan option is toast with smashed avocado - ask that they serve it without dairy).

We only had an overnight stay but from the moment we arrived...

We only had an overnight stay but from the moment we arrived, we found the hospitality was enormous. We had our lunch n Donnelly's just beside the Twelve Hotel where we stayed. We definitely will have to return to sample more of this outside of the hotel itself.

Barna was a great spot to stay, right amount of restaurants...

Barna was a great spot to stay, right amount of restaurants close by although we did have a bad experience in the Donnelly’s but O’Grady on the pier seafood restaurant was amazing. The drive to salt hill was 10 minutes away and silverstrand beach was a beautiful.

It is a fairly small village about 10 km west of Galway.

It is a fairly small village about 10 km west of Galway. There was no parking problem. It was easy to access Galway city and Salthill. The way to the west, including Connemara and Clifden was very picturesque in places. Following the "Wild West Trail" was very worthwhile. Took about two hours slow travel time from Barna.

Very pretty small village near Atlantic coast.

Very pretty small village near Atlantic coast. Most places have seaview or mountains. Donnellys was great with lovely food and live Irish music. A few pubs and other restaurants also nearby. Seafood restaurant near seafront. Supermarket and cafes nearby to b&bs.

Theresa was very nice , a lovely fried breakfast and tea provided in the mornings with home made soda bread and cakes. She was really welcoming to me and my dad and we shall be returning soon for a stay !!. p.s Theresa ...get a big sign on the road like rest of the hotels so we can see where you are 😉 ❤️ as I had difficulty finding you x

Room was excellent. Comp upgrade. Very happy . Quiet which was perfect for us getting away from the busy life's we have hotel was clean and well maintained reception staff where 10/10. Missis booked a spa was very happy with it. Therapist was very thorough and overall enjoyed every minute of it
