Our stay at The River Island in Sidemen was simply unforgettable. This place is more than just accommodation – it’s a little paradise, nestled between two rivers and surrounded by nature. The spacious garden is beautifully maintained, filled with tropical flowers, and radiates a deep sense of peace. The houses are generous in size, tastefully designed, and full of thoughtful details. Everything is impeccably clean and feels brand new. One of the highlights was the open-air bathroom – surrounded by flowers, airy, bright, and simply stunning. Every detail has been carefully considered: bathrobes, mosquito spray even incense stick holder : ) You can feel the love that went into creating this place. Jro, the host and her stuff are incredibly warm and welcoming. Here, you don’t feel like just another tourist – you feel truly seen and cared for. The atmosphere carries a special, spiritual but also grounding energy. The food, lovingly prepared by Jro and her husband, is not only delicious but also beautifully presented – a true delight for both body and soul. If you’re looking for a place that’s not only stunning but also filled with warmth and harmony, this is it. The River Island is a truly special gem in Bali – highly recommended!

Papahan Bali is an amazing place. I arrived very late but was very warmly welcomed and helped to my room. The setting is quiet and relaxing with a lush tropical backdrop, making it a great place to stay. My room had a clear view of Mt Agung, very nice to wake up to each morning. The breakfasts and dinners were great. Everything here was great and the hosts are super friendly.

I had a truly wonderful stay here! The place is beautiful, very peaceful, and perfectly designed for a comfortable stay. The room was spotless, with a super comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom with hot water. What really makes this place special are the owners – they are absolutely delightful, incredibly kind, and always ready to help with anything you need. They gave me great tips about things to do in Sidemen and made me feel so welcome. I had an amazing night here and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for both comfort and genuine hospitality.

Everything! After living in Bali for over 11 years and lucky enough to visit Sidemen/Selat area often staying in different Bamboo villas this is by far the best one I have had the pleasure to stay in! Without a doubt the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed in in Bali or indeed around my world travels. The villa is absolutely stunning with the most breathtaking views of Mt Agung, rice terraces and jungle. You’re literally staying in the jungle/rice terraces surrounded 360 with no other accommodation around! It’s truly serene and magical. It has everything you need and is thoughtfully designed, lovely small pool with incredible view, upper hammock area with amazing view of Agung to lounge in and sunloungers by the pool! The bed is huge and comfy, we didn’t even use the mosquito net, we didn’t encounter any mosquitoes whilst here even though it rained heavily on the first night. The whole villa is open which we loved (although may not be for everyone), it’s not overly private to the local farmers but we didn’t care. We loved the location, being fully immersed in nature and far from the tourism hub of Sidemen (we had a bike so was very easy for us to drive around). It’s 20min drive to Sidemen centre. We spent a lot of time just relaxing in the different parts of the villa, admiring the view and listening to the sounds of nature. Nyoman and his family are amazing, the service and food was incredible and we can HIGHLY recommend the Rice terraces/jungle trek with Nyoman, you start directly from the villa and go into stunning local rice terraces (again away from the more common treks in Sidemen) and through the jungle where he gives lots of info about the plants, trees, fruits etc. Will 100% come and stay here again!

A truly charming stay facing the rice fields, with an adorable and very attentive staff who made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was delicious, and we loved the option to enjoy it by the beautiful pool or even in the comfort of our room. A perfect place for a total change of scenery and peace, yet only a few minutes away from the lively buzz of the city. Excellent location!
