Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Materra who always had a smile for me! My stay was simply fabulous from the moment I stepped in until my departure after 4 days. What a good surprise this place was, somewhat of a hidden gem in the countryside of Osijek! The hotel was designed by a local Architect with so much style and attention to the details that it's hard not to fall in love with the place. You have to experience it yourself to understand. I loved wandering around and sit in various places during my stay and I could not get bored of it. I am a well traveled person staying in fancy hotels around the world. I can easily say that the facilities of this place are 5 stars and with the best quality equipments (bedroom, bathrom, gym, spa, pool, sitting areas, BEST coffee and super stylish decoration). The owner has achieved a master piece and I can't wait to see the future developments around the hotel which will certainly turn this hotel into a destination on its own! Congratulations!!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Everything exceeded my expectations. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, and very well-maintained. I stayed in a room with a jacuzzi, which was an amazing experience – so relaxing and luxurious. The beds were incredibly comfortable – I slept like a baby every night. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant stay. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

This was a really nice little hotel. The room was very big, with a hallway, separate bathroom and toilet, and the room I was in even had a balcony. There was a fridge, and ample storage (I was in a double room for one person, but for two people, it would be fine too). The bed was comfortable, the lighting was good, there were enough sockets. For a three star hotel, it was really good value and quality. It was convenient for the conference I was at, though it's a bit of a walk to the city centre. There was offroad parking behind the hotel, which was very handy. There is a restaurant downstairs in the hotel, which I didn't use, but the breakfast was good, with a reasonable choice and a very nice cooked breakfast.

The hotel was lovely and the room had a beautiful view of the calm and serene river. The breakfast was very good and the best part was the amazing dinner we had in the restaurant. Served by a very nice member of staff who gave us excellent menu advice and was so patient with our questions. The food was superlative, and wine superb.

Osijek is a charming small city with a beautiful Drava river promenade, perfect for walks. The old town, Tvrđa, offers many cafés and nightclubs and is easy to reach by tram or affordable taxis. The city has a cozy center, great restaurants, welcoming people, no traffic congestion, and a lovely café and pastry shop in Hotel Osijek with a river view.

Fabulous city with beautiful buildings, river, scenery and parks plus interesting history. Well worth a visit, with seasonal direct Ryanair flights from London Stansted make it a great summer vacation or city break! Lovely friendly people and great restaurants too!

It's a great mid size city, plenty to see and check out, great food allover, the best ice cream I ever had in Dakovo. Friendly people, I was surprised to see so many people using bicycles here. very clean city and safe. The stay stay to short .

Osijek was once the second city in Croatia and still has...

Osijek was once the second city in Croatia and still has evidence of that. The collection of Secessionist buildings on Europska Ave is outstanding on a European scale and it is a disgrace that this hasn't been recognised by the EU. The historic complete military township of Tvrda is also a must visit place. The surrounding Baranje area provides tastes of a country far different to Dalmatia which is what most visitors to Croatia only experience. The Kopacki Rit reserve is a great place for birdwatching including breeding White tailed Eagles and the nearby forest holds large numbers of wild boar.

A beautiful city and wonderful people.

A beautiful city and wonderful people. From monumental buildings to beautiful nature. On both the Osijek and Baranja sides, there are plenty of restaurants where you can eat deliciously. I definitely recommend a ferry ride and a walk across the Pedestrian Bridge.

Osijek is a charming city with relaxing atmosphere, rich history, beautiful architecture, stunning Cathedral. We enjoyed the walk along the river, though the fortress (Tvrđa) could be better maintained.

The room was better equipped and nicer all in all than the rooms in the nearby 4star Hotel Osijek (where most of my colleagues stayed). Not to mention that it was much cheeper. There is a public parking (2 EUR a day) available 200m away, and the main city square is just behind the corner. I was welcomed by a complementary basket of snacks and sweets, as well as a minibar with complementary water and juice. This is THE place to stay in Osijek.

Located 5 walking mins from Tvrdja, the apartment is perfect for an Osijek stay. It is located in a residential area of Osijek, Sjenjak, in a green area, with markets and bakery shops all at your doorstep. Apartment offered perfectly clean amenities, very good wi-fi and very functional kitchen. The host is more than pleasant and of assistance. We are certain to return.

This is one of the best places to stay in Osijek. It is an older hotel but well maintained and has charm. Room was fine, as was breakfast. There's a very good restaurant if you want to have dinner in.There is parking at the back of the hotel
