Location is spectacular and staff really tried but were not put in position to succeed. Emmerson did a great job arranging boats and cars for day trips from the resort.

The property was without doubt one of the most aesthetically considered hotels we’ve been to. The decor (from the artwork to the furniture to the cutlery) was beautiful and incredibly detail oriented, with a local Guatemala / Mayan theme. The setting was even better, with great views over the lake and nicely nestled into the hills. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely visit Casa Palopo if you’re visiting Atitlan.

I spent one night here. My transport was late arriving but the owner let me in and showed me my room. Beds in twos are divided by a curtain. I slept well and had a full breakfast in the morning.

Really nice hotel, we had a double room. First room in Guatemala that was actually fully dark and we could finally rest comfortably on the afternoon. Well and beautifully designed, large room and comfortable bed! The common kitchen is a great addition, lots of comfortable communal spaces and workspace. The pool is nice but didn’t seem very clean so we skipped it. There are nice events and a beach bar few minutes walk, the center is close too. We loved it.

San Antonio de Palopo was in my list to visit the Lake...

San Antonio de Palopo was in my list to visit the Lake Atitlan. It is a quite, relaxing and peaceful place. At night, you can see the other towns across the lake. This particular place reminds me Napoli, Italy when I stayed by the water. This town was magic for me, because I was able to connect with nature and this amazing lake. This town also has a different huipil than the rest of the other towns, walk around the main street and look for your self their textile style. I will definitely come back.

Nice lakeshore village.

Nice lakeshore village. Not much to do in the village itself, but it is very close to San Catarine, which is of the same type and Panajachel which is much bigger and full of tourism attractions. The advantage of San Antonio is quiet location, not much traffic and great sceneries. The village has quite unique cobalt shore promenade along the whole village. Travel by car o boat to Panajachel is not expensive and easy. One may order lake boat trip starting from the village itself.
