Aristotle is to blame for our visit to Lesbos and specifically to Skala Kallonis. We spent two nights at Nancy Rooms. Our stay was pleasant and satisfactory in every way. Special merit in this regard goes to the hostess who is very charismatic, tactful and accommodating. Also her good English made for us things easier. I would like to mention that this visit occasion us meeting some rather nice people of the town, such as the taxi driver Themis and the baker. So, we recommend Nancy Rooms to everyone who would visit Skala Kallonis.

A lovely two bedroom apartment in picturesque grounds with everything that we needed for our 10 day stay. There is plenty of parking for several vehicles but you definitely need a car as there are no shops or tavernas etc within easy walking distance. We were, of course, aware of this when we booked.. There was not one, nor two, but three balconies for our apartment, one off each bedroom, but we only really used the third one at the front, where we sat at the table for breakfast and lunch when we were not out exploring the island. We were the only guests when we first arrived so had access to any of the 4 pools if we wanted. A nice selections of supplies were waiting for us when we arrived, including locally produced virgin olive oil. The apartment is in a good location in the centre of the island with fairly easy access to everywhere. It's only a short drive into Kalloni which had shops and supermarkets, and also to Skala Kallonis, with beaches, bars and tavernas, but it is less than an hour to get to pretty much anywhere. It is set in a peaceful location with lots of greenery in the gardens which were well stocked and maintained. Our host, Alexandros, was very helpful - always on hand to answer questions if required, and to offer advice on where to visit, shop, dine etc. He even leant us some binoculars so we could watch the storks, flamingos and pelicans from the hides at the salt pans. I don't know if we will get back to Lesvos any time soon, but if we do we will look to book here again.

Skala Kallonis is a tiny place located in the coast of...

Skala Kallonis is a tiny place located in the coast of Kalloni Bay, which is the greater of two bays in Lesbos. The sea and beaches are charming. There is a port for fishermen's boats and every morning the fishermen return from fishing while cats are waiting for them. They usually fish for sardines which mature in the bay. There are nearly ten restaurants located near the port. We have tried one of them but surely the others are alike. The main dish is grilled sardines but they serve other fishes and different seafood like squid, shrimps, mussels, and vegetable food, too. While you can eat meals in the restaurants, they may serve you snacks and drink from noon to midnight as well as the other snack bars. You may shop from two markets, buy bread from a bakery, which is very old and too close to the port. I strongly advise brown bread of the bakery: it was wonderful. The sea in Skala Kalloni is shallow and clean. The beaches are also quite clean and free, although you are expected to order mini drinks for the sun loungers from the cafes and restaurants they belong to. If we go to Lesbos again, we will definitely stay at Skala Kalloni. Because it is both in a central location on the island and a quiet settlement away from noise and chaos.

The sea feels like a salty lake. The water is stagnant so a lot of sea weed grows in it and the color of the sea is grey. The water is warm and shallow. Not for people who loves swimming. Suitable for children.

It is a nice quite area that also affords the guest a downtown with restaurants and cafes. We went in October to see Flamingos and saw hundreds of them. It is a birders paradise. The landscapes and sunsets are also magnificent. We are looking forward to a return trip in the spring.

From the moment we arrived, until the day we left, our stay was magical. Hotel was ideally situated for our birding trips, and for the local town and the lovely restaurants. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were the best. George was the perfect host and a mine of helpful information. Nicki was lovely, and looked after all our food and drink requirements, she's a real treasure. Overall the hotel was perfect, we will return very soon.

Very cozy, the apartment had everything. Kitchen, plates, glasses, everything you need. And what a balcony!! It was a pleasure to stay out in the afternoon and in the night. Indeed, the hotel exceeded our expectations. It's really like a village. Many autonomous houses and 5 pools. I think around 5 houses were sharing a pool. I've never seen anything like it before. Never crowded. Family friendly!!!!!

We had 2 nights here to start our Lesvos road trip. Lovely room - location is great, if you have a front room then there is only a childrens playground between your balcony and the beach and there is a great taverna within 2 minutes. Basic greek room facilities including a fridge and hob. Bed was comfy and the owners friendly.
