The location and views were wonderful. Lovely toiletries and new shower with great water pressure. The hosts were really friendly and the breakfast setup was very cute. Thankfully we eat all food as we had no choice in what was put on the table. We didn’t mind at all, just a note for someone who has any allergies or dislikes to make sure they ask first. We were given an upgrade too which was so kind of them, we were more than happy with the first room we saw, in fact it looked in slightly better condition than our upgrade!
Offering a terrace and quiet street view, Charis Guesthouse is set in Makrinítsa, 10 km from Panthessaliko Stadium and 70 metres from Museum of Folk Art and History of Pelion.

While Makrinitsa in Pelion remains as enchanting as ever,...
While Makrinitsa in Pelion remains as enchanting as ever, it's crucial to highlight the aftermath of the 2023 flood, which has left the roads from Volos to the village in disrepair. Navigating these roads, particularly at night, can be perilous, warranting caution and attention from travelers, especially those with cars. Despite this challenge, Makrinitsa's beauty perseveres, offering a worthwhile destination for those willing to plan their journey with care.

Amazing place, Makrinitsa is the jewel in the Pelion...
Amazing place, Makrinitsa is the jewel in the Pelion mountain. It's only 12 or so kilometers from Volos and is easily accessible by car. However, keep in mind that the village is a strictly pedestrian area, so finding a parking spot in the parking at the village entrance could be a challenge. Get there early to beat the crowds and maybe you'll get lucky.
There are a number of very good traditional Greek tavernas that you absolutely need to visit, many souvenir shops you can spend a few euros at, and a wonderful cafe with the best portokalopita and karidopita you can find.
And last but certainly not least, Makrinitsa and the mountain Pelion offer many hiking treks you can follow.

Beautiful place but a bit "commercial"!
Beautiful place but a bit "commercial"! It depends on the style of holiday that you want to have. In case you want to have the trail in your holiday maybe you have to consider also visiting the other side of Pelion. Makrinitsa is close also to Volos in case you want to have a drink or taste local food. Overall a beautiful place to have a short trip!

Excellent views from almost every point in the village.
Excellent views from almost every point in the village. Tons of character, with the cobble paths and the traditional houses. Just a note, getting around the upper part of the village is a proper hike. Everything you need (restaurants, shops etc) are on the lower part though so no worries :)
Historical building, 80-100 years old, which consists of only 1 room, about 35 sq.m. with one double bed, one sofa and a bathroom. The host had made sure that the cleanliness was good and that we did not lack basic things. There is a wonderful view from the terrace. Peace and quiet most of the time. Beautiful nature around. The village of Makrinitsa is a historical landmark and interesting to explore.
The hotel is more like a warm and friendly family home to which you feel welcomed as a family member than a normal hotel. Its location can only be described as breathtaking, perched high above Volos and the Gulf. Every member of the Adam family, from grandmother to younger son, gave me help and information. Food and drink kept appearing as family gifts. The breakfasts were enormous, varied and tasty.
The location is fantastic in a corner of heaven. Located in center Makrinitsa, a mountain village overlooking Volos and the sea, the view is spectacular. Around there are trees as old as the world itself....
The hosts are amazing people, I loved the room and the breakfast is very good 😊. We were three people and a border collie and I will definitely come back again ❤️.
Amazing apartment, located up the valley on the way to Makrinitsa village with breathtaking views. The apartment is beautiful, in great condition (feels like "new"), highly clean and very comfortable and convenient for a family. The owner hospatility is one of the nicest we have ever encountered... Will definitely come back, and already waiting for the next time.
The setting is fantastic and the accommodations are excellent. The hotel is very close to a good restaurant, kardamo, which serves wonderful food. The host is exceptional, offering great local advice. My daughter wants to come back with a group of her early 20s friends next year because of the authenticity.
It was an incredible stay! The house is like a historical museum with all the facilities of a high rated hotel at the same time. Plenty of space, stunning views, comfortable beds, any equipment you may need is there at your disposal. The house was very warm in spite of winter weather.
What a fantastic place, the host Kiki gave us incredible recommendations and was so helpful. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Our family loved the location for the breathtaking views and charming town as well as for a homebase exploring Pelion. We very much hope to return!
Very nice hotel. The room wasn't very spacious, but the view was amazing! Having breakfast - with a huge variety of local products! - on the balcony was a total bliss. Walking distance from the center; parking space available (that's definitely a plus in Makrinitsa on a Sunday).
The house is big and cosy and can easily accommodate 6-10 people. We liked sitting around the fireplace and there is an incredible view. It was very clean and warm and whatever we needed we could call John to assist. Makrinitsa is a beautiful village and is quite close on foot.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the caffeteria/common area had board games and a silent, comfortable atmosphere that I appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was next to the center of Makrinitsa with an amazing view of the city of Volos.
This was our favourite place to stay while in Greece. Set in a beautiful wee village with amazing views. The breakfast was something we'd never tried before and really tasty. The taverna right next to it served the most yummy food!
Historic mansion. 2 minute walk from Makrinitsa’s beautiful plateia, perhaps the most beautiful square in the world! The bathroom in the largest of our two rooms was very nice.
Great location, beautiful views, very nicely renovated old house turned into a hotel, decent breakfast. A little steep to drive but expected as it's a mountain village.
The hotel was at the very best spot between Portaria and Makrinitsa. Both villages could be visited via walking. The hostess was amazing and very polite!
