We had an incredibly comfortable stay in Gavdos, made even better by the warm and friendly owners. Our visit was brief, just two nights with our young children (both under 5), but it left a lasting impression. Unfortunately, one of our daughters fell ill on the second night, which meant we couldn't fully enjoy everything the property had to offer. However, the owners were exceptionally helpful and supportive during this time, which made all the difference. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing and welcoming experience.

Very different, quite organised when you get there. Quiet and peaceful and simple. People are super friendly and communication was no issue. Getting round the island was simple with a scooter and a good pair of sturdy shoes for the hikes.

It’s like being at the end of the world.

It’s like being at the end of the world. A “Land That Time Forgot.” A place to unplug and disconnect. Experience it before it becomes developed and commercialized like other Greek island or places like Key West, Florida and Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Going to Gavdos means to leave one's comfort zone, although the island's infrastructure has improved a lot, nothing comparable with 25 years ago. Even in summer time and even having daily connections does not mean that the boat will arrive from mainland Crete; winds may change every day and connections may be cancelled on a short notice. Nevertheless if you want to see something new, still quite unspoilt, if you want to hike, especially to Europe's southernmost point, if you want to enjoy lonely beaches, you might feel well on that island.

Bit of a culture shock on arrival, very simple and undeveloped. Beautiful beaches. Excellent local bus service. A few good walks, surprisingly very well waymarked. Lots of wild camping around, and a very laid back hippy culture. Great place to chill out.

This island is simply unique.

This island is simply unique. The food was excellent everywhere, and once you figured out the bus schedule for the beach, getting around is easy. There's also a taxi service, which we used to our complete satisfaction. Next time, we'd try to rent a moped earlier, as it would give us even more independence.

Difficult to access because the ship-owning company does not issue tickets online and creates a mess in general. The island is unspoilt with wonderful beaches, most of them, however, inaccessible only by boat or on foot difficult. The food is good, you can find everything in one or two cases it was very expensive ... raw quiet lonely.
