We booked this property as we were taking the ferry to Brindisi the next day. What a helpful team! For the minute we booked and messaged them about a few questions, to checking in and out, they could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The location is a little off the Main Street but the view from our balcony worth it. Both the room and bathroom were spotless. We had a good breakfast with Greek/continental choices. We wouldn’t hesitate to return should we take that ferry route again

Our stay at Hotel El Greco in Igoumenitsa was a truly good experience. The hotel, likely built in the 1980s, carries a charming, familiar atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Despite the economic challenges imposed by both national and European policies, which have made entrepreneurship and local business increasingly difficult, the team at El Greco continues to move forward with admirable determination. The hotel is gradually renovating its rooms, and we were lucky to receive a complimentary upgrade to one of the newly refurbished ones modern, comfortable, and tastefully done. Located right at the port of Igoumenitsa, the hotel is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas, whether you're heading to the islands or discovering the beauty of Epirus. Igoumenitsa is an ideal starting point to visit lots of lovely areas of mainland Greece. The beaches North of the town towards Albania are lovely and the water clean. Outside Igoumenitsa going south there are lots of bays and hotels to visit and some lovely unspoilt countryside and villages. A visit to the Acheron Gorge is really worthwhile.

When I was in Igoumenitsa, I checked out Zanzibar — definitely a must-visit! The vibe was great, the food was amazing, and the sunset views were stunning. We had a pre-wedding gathering there, went for a swim, and the staff were super friendly, which made the whole experience even better.

I recommend a visit to the Archeological museum of...

I recommend a visit to the Archeological museum of Igoumenitsa. This museum is excellent with friendly and knowledgeable staff and an amazing collection including exhibits from a recent exploration near to Igoumenitsa. Igoumenitsa castle is worth a visit. It is close to the town centre and an excellent viewpoint for the port area as well as being well preserved with informative signage. Walk along the promenade from the ferry port towards the beach. Rent a bicycle and cycle to the beach. Order souvlaki and a beer from the street cafes along the promenade.

The city is a typical Greek city dependent on sea trade and...

The city is a typical Greek city dependent on sea trade and transport. It also has nice beaches but the harbour as hub for the surrounding islands of Corfu and other islands like Paxos in the Ionian Sea, and therefore there is a lot of sea traffic on the water as well in the city as the main motorway leads from Igoumentisa to Thessaloniki.

I liked the fact that everything is within walking distance.

I liked the fact that everything is within walking distance. Caught a fairy to Corfu and spent the day there also. If we had a car it would have been so much better but was too scared to drive on the wrong side of the road being from Australia lol. The thing that was a disappointment was the fact that there are step’s everywhere and if you are disabled there is no chance to get in and out of shops etc… Foot paths were uneven and too many stray cats and dogs.

We used the Hotel as a stopover during our holiday, we were using the port as a point of transfer over to the island of Corfu. The hotel and location cannot be faulted. We found a small taverna within 50 meters of the hotel where we ate for the evening.

I was met with a friendly welcome at reception and the staff were helpful sharing recommendations and advice for my short stay in Igoumenitsa. My room was clean, well equipped with fridge, TV and a balcony overlooking the ferry port. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. It was an easy short walk from the hotel to the bus station and also the town centre. The castle is also close to the hotel and is an excellent viewpoint. I recommend this hotel.
