We only stayed for one night, but the staff made every effort to make everything lovely. The place is perhaps a little dated for some, however , this is vastly outweighed by this immaculate hotel. The value for money is unbelievable. My partner is vegan and they provided soya milk for the room and a decent vegan breakfast.

Whitby is one of our favourite place to visit and stay.

Whitby is one of our favourite place to visit and stay. Every time we go there is something different. Either a new shop, pub/bar or somewhere to eat. The beach is brilliant and we love looking at the harbour as well as the Abbey.

Stunning old town with amazing views, shops (many more than you'd think with quirky, unique styles). The sea front and the buildings are stunning. It really is one of our favourite places to visit.

A very friendly place with lots of bars and restaurants. We found the shops very good. We visited the brewery at the Abbey worth the 199 steps. We would recommend The Fishermans Wife as the food and service was excellent.

My mum came to lay flowers at her favourite place in her late husbands memory. It was their favourite place to visit and for many years they visited and stayed at Whitby Caravan Park. I have fond memories of visiting Whitby from my childhood. I brought Mum back a couple of years ago , we came through from Pickering Station on the Steam train ( one thing she always wanted to do). We had a lovely weekend , ecen in the cold rain and it was quite windy. Just to see my mums face light up when she arrived in Whitby , made it all worth while. Its a beautiful place.

Whitby is a lovely place to visit even in November, had a nice pint of IPA in the Black horse, although I thought the price for one pint of IPA and a bottle of ginger beer was very expensive £10-60!!!

I love the place, such a privilege to only live an hours drive away. I've probably visited at 15 times this year alone and will probably return again before the New Year. I'd recommend everyone to visit and I'm sure you will fall in love with Whitby.

Resolution should take pride in their staff. Their reception lady went out of her way to get my parking tickets sorted. Full marks. The staff at the restaurant and other reception staff were courteous and helpful. Room was clean and facilities were amply provided and replenished - be it tea/coffee, ironing board, towels etc. Breakfast and dinner were ok with fantastic ambience at the Vault. Hotel location is 5-10 mins walk to the harbour from where its easy access to all main attractions to Whitby.

The Duke of York is at the bottom of the steps which go up to Whitby Abbey, at the end of cobbled church street, it's therefore nice and quiet. The room was accessed by a separate entrance adjacent to a small beach. It was spacious, very clean and had a view across the harbour. Tastefully decorated in teal blue with lovely cream brick tiles in the bathroom. Very comfortable and didn't feel like a room in a pub. Dog friendly too.

Good location with parking spot. Spacious well equipped kitchen. Cosy and warm. Two bathrooms always useful. Hooks on the backs of doors etc for coats, robes and towels. Heated towel rails to dry towels. Simple to use heating system. Wifi. Entertainment corner (jigsaws, games etc) Spent a wet afternoon doing the Whitby Harbour jigsaw which was lovely.

I chose the hotel because of the location. Our room had a beautiful sea view, with a short distant walk to the beach. Also, good parking space. It was approx 10 - 15 minutes' walk to the centre of Whitby. The room we stayed in was spacious and spotless.
