Perfectly kitted out for all your needs. Has a shower and toilet, over, hob, fridge, kitchen stuff, seating area, pull down comfortable bed and the most wonderful views. Loved the little touches such as freshly picked daffodils, milk and the most tasty loaf of bread I’ve had! Barry and Debbie are wonderful hosts, you have a lot of privacy but they are also on hand if you need anything. Location is perfect if you’re looking for remoteness but also amenities aren’t too far away in neighbouring Dunvegan.

Speaking of the Cuillin Hills feels like allowing longing to arrive before time itself, even though I left only moments ago. A place where refinement meets warmth, and the hotel feels unmistakably like home. The staff move almost invisibly, caring without being seen; breakfast is an act of quiet generosity; and the view, so perfect, seems as though it were drawn by the hands of God. Being there was a silent gift — one of those the world offers without announcement. And if one day I return to the Isle of Skye, it will be this hotel that my heart will remember first. The location is very remote and if you are inclined to cities as opposed to nature, this probably would not be for you. If you like the great outdoors, nature, hiking and photography, this is the place for you.

The hotel's website suggests ample rooms and great amenities and hence the price is high. Our two rooms, though prettily decorated, were cramped and faced a back yard. Restaurants were all at least 20 minutes away

A secluded little settlement, where you will find few...

A secluded little settlement, where you will find few tourists and no tour busses. You can take beautiful walks but you need a car to get around and you and you need to be comfortable with narrow roads. The walks are beautiful and as I imagined Skye. The one thing that is difficult is that in Skye everything as far away from everything. The small roads make driving a slow activity. You need to bring some snacks or go out to dinner.

Ullinish House is located on the far western side of the...

Ullinish House is located on the far western side of the Isle of Skye about 35 miles from Portree. Situated on a mile long one lane road. The location is quiet with only a few other homes nearby. Somewhat famous as the house Dr Samuel Johnson, linguist, poet, traveler, lodged at during his 1773 tour of the western isles of Scotland. Wonderfully appointed rooms, stylishly decorated common areas, breakfast included. It has spectacular views of the ocean, mountains and lochs and has access to a coastal path that one can take to experience the island of Oronsay. Check out the Neist Lighthouse, The Old Man of Storr, the Fairy Pools and much more.
