The house was tucked away in between two lochs and the journey there was just spectacular. The place was very homely as were the people. The rooms were clean and quiet and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend booking this listing rather than some big commercialized hotel.

There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good restaurant, but its convenient for the Loch, and its on a junction of the main roads, so there's good access to other parts. There is a bus stop that the long distance bus services stop at. Loch boat trips depart from the pier. The Tarbet Hotel is a great place to stay. The Kirk 'o the Lochs is a good place to eat.

One could take a nice wander around Tarbet but a car is...

One could take a nice wander around Tarbet but a car is needed to explore the lakes, castles and countryside around and about. It's an ideal location, to discover and walk and the views are wonderful; the air is so clean. There is a shop nearby, but limited so you need to be organised with provisions.

The hotel proved a convenient location on the A.82 by Loch Lomond. The breakfast offered a variety of cooked and cold dishes. However, the hotel was generally 'tired' and there were clearly not enough staff on duty both for evening dinner and especially at breakfast time when a single 'stressed' young lady was tsasked with table allocation, serving and clearing tables (although main food was self-service).

I was only stopping in Tarbet breaking my journey from Oban.

I was only stopping in Tarbet breaking my journey from Oban. However I have stayed in the area twice before. There is a railway connection and you can take a ferry across Loch Lomond to the Inversnaid Hotel.

The relaxed atmosphere and stunning views. Inside the hotel is stunning . Easy to find and perfectly placed for a relaxing break. Took a boat tour on the loch then chilled on the outdoor seating watching the world go by.

The reservation system was difficult and it was very...

The reservation system was difficult and it was very difficult to get the hotel itself to communicate and understand. I had to enlist the corporate office in order to work it out. The front desk clerk at check in is rude. The young girl bartender is untrained. The food staff is unprofessional and disengaged. The evening bar music penetrates the room - making it difficult to sleep. Not all amenities were in the room and had to be asked for. The coffee maker didn't work. The building is beautiful, but without friendly staff it has lost all ambiance. Clearly, there is no corporate attempt to train staff to cater to the traveling public.

The Tarbet Hotel is an ideal place to stop en route from England to the Western Highlands. We arrived late, the night staff were welcoming, the rooms comfortable, buffet breakfast good and the morning staff patient and understanding when our dog knocked the table and the tea pot smashed to the floor. Our teenage boys enjoyed the pool table for a late night game before bed.

The Tarbet is in a perfect location to explore Loch Lomond. The cruises start right there and it is centrally located for other places along the Loch like Luss and Fort William. It is a grand hotel full of character

Lovely and cosy house in a handy location for Tarbet and Luss. Close to the Loch and some nice walks. The house was exceptionally clean and comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. A lovely stay.
