Stornoway is an interesting little town with Lews castle and grounds well worth a visit. It is a very good starting point to explore some of the island-places to visit include Callanish standing stones,the Black House,the Black House village and the broch,all of which are on the one road that leads directly out of Stornoway. There is also Harris to visit and famous and stunning beaches,but we ran out of time !

Stornoway is a compact town, with good local pubs and...

Stornoway is a compact town, with good local pubs and restaurants. Lews Castle and its grounds and museum is well worth a visit. I also went to a folk music concert at the An Lanntair theatre which was excellent (I also enjoyed a pre- show meal there in its Thai Cafe). The whole island of Lewis & Harris is stunning and magical.

Stunning part of the world.

Stunning part of the world. So much more to see than we had time for, a week would have been amazing! Beckett's do a fab breakfast, not many other places open before 9am. Some fab wee gift shops, especially enjoyed the Art Gallery, The Christian Bookshop, The Baltic Bookshop, Hebridean Tweed and Delights.

We had heard the Royal was the best hotel in Stornoway, and nothing contradicted this while we were there. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with the restaurant serving top quality pub grub type food. Because we booked well in advance they put us in the Tower Room, the best they had, and we were very pleased with it.

We had a lovely nights stay in the Stornoway Bed and Breakfast . We were greeted by David who showed us the room and the facilities. He also cooked the delicious breakfast in the morning . The breakfast room was well decorated and everything was very clean

The restaurant food was lovely with plenty of choice. Breakfast was the same. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location close to town with a supermarket in walking distance. The hotel is a short drive from the airport and short walk from the ferry.

Location was very good and only a 15-20 minute walk into the centre of Stornoway for restaurants etc. Very close to the ferry terminal if driving (5mins). Breakfast was good and the owner could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
