Continental breakfast, which is fine, but only had one piece of cheese. Would have liked another bread roll and another piece of cheese. I am not keen on smoked meats.

From the get go we had a great time. Easy to get to location, free on site parking and very clear instructions on how to get into the hotel and where to find our room. The whole place is clean and tidy. The room was fab, clean and spacious. The bed was comfy, the shower was spot on. Love the kettle, need to know where they got it from! We didn't cook but got a pizza delivered which was super handy, we ate in the dining room area which had plenty of space and we kept our drinks in the fridge in the kitchen. Next time we will cook as the kitchen has all cooking equipment and is a lot bigger than mine at home. Check out was super easy too. Have already booked again but this time we've booked the suite as had a glimpse of it as someone else was going in.

Not our best trip!! don't get me wrong our accommodation was amazing and probably the highlight of our trip!! from what I had been told by others who had been this place was lovely but it really wasn't for us at all!!! I can see that in the past it must have been a wonderful and historic place to have spent a few days/nights but now unfortunately there seems to be lots of shops that have shut down/boarded up/smashed windows... there was a fair bit of litter almost everywhere you looked although again I have seen worse I suppose... the beach is more of a filed now than a beech it must be said, and don't go expecting sandy beaches as it is predominantly crunched shells that are sharp underfoot... the pier is closed. honestly I would say that at the moment Blackpool outshines it by far and in everyway!!

Southport has the most amazing Victorian architecture.
Southport has the most amazing Victorian architecture. Sadly lots of retail premises are empty or struggling for trade. Hopefully the Council will get its act together and restore the piety and then restrict its use to walkers, mobility vehicles and the small train.
Auberge Brasserie , Bistrot Pierre, The Grand, Robertos Italian, Nostalgia Tearooms, Pudding and Pie, The Atkinson cafe, Occulo Lounge and many more great eateries and cocktail bars
A town that's well worth a visit and with the support of tourists hopefully it will return to all irs former glory.

There seems to be more eating/bar places opening up along lord street which is good because it was starting to look empty. More shops would be good and maybe longer opening hours for some that holiday makers like to browse in.
The biggest downfall for us is the pier having closed down and I am sure a lot of people must think the same because it was always busy with people walking the length of the pier and this really does put us off going as often as we would have done.
I would not like to walk along lord street on my own after the majority of shops close because it can be a bit intimidating when the doorways start to be taken over with sleeping bags and duvets etc.
We have stayed in the Waterfront hotel but not since all the building works started all around it and such a shame the big Hungry Horse there closed down. So finally Southport is not as appealing as it used to be at the moment and fingers crossed it will improve quickly.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size and variety of shops within the town. Lots of lovely little arcades and side streets as well as many big known brands and some independent shops. We loved the old buildings and the walk around the pleasure lake. We were only there for the weekend and could have spent a lot longer exploring. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops to chose from. Southport had authenticity and charm.

Really like Southport, lots for children down at the marina, so many beautiful swans and huge geese😊crazy golf , timber playground, helter skelter and funfair, open green spaces and parks, more than enough shops & supermarkets , great pubs and endless eating places. Trains every 15 mins gets you to Liverpool City and beyond to Chester City and Chester Zoo, take a train or bus to Ormskirk market.
Beautiful small boutique hotel in a fabulous area in Southport within walking distance of cafes and restaurants. The room was small but very well-appointed, beautiful finishings, very comfortable bed. Communal kitchen is very convenient for making breakfasts and warming takeaways etc. We loved it so much that we stayed here again, twice more, during our roadtrip when we ended up back in Southport. Most importantly, Amanda who runs the place is extremely hospitable and goes out of her way to make sure guests are comfortable.
This is such a lovely hotel. Booked it for the night of my husband's 75th Birthday. We were visiting a local restaurant in Formby as decided it would be a great place to stay after our meal. The staff upgraded us to a better room and prepared a a lovely little plate that said Happy 75th Birth and had 3 chocolates on it. Lovely surroundings and lovely view out of the window! Breakfast was great too.
I like all of it the Shirley and Gary were amazing good food and they made us both so welcome over the couple of days ideal location for the beach and town breakfast was nice food cooked fresh and hotel room was clean and very well catered and they were both very chatty which made you feel more welcome i will definitely becoming back next year paul
I liked the location and as the weather was sunny, we made good use of the sun terrace. I had a room with a wet room and it was very good. We had an evening meal in the hotel with friends and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a Southport visit. Not the cheapest but we thought it was worth it.
A fantastic find in Southport, much better value and set-up than some of the local hotels. Has everything you need to eat in, and perfect location for dining out. Sophie was really responsive and great giving us all the information we needed.
