Paul, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. We had our dog with us and this was no problem. We had booked the room with private bathroom but he gave us the room with an ensuite. Breakfast excellent. Parking very convenient outside the door.

Perfect views with the lighthouse for a lovely walk, beaches which are sandy and clean, a great funfair, a perfect little holiday for families. You can walk into South Shields itself - great nightlife in the centre! And fish and chips by the beach as well as Minchellas Ice Cream! What more can you want!

A great place to stay with loads of restaurants within walking distance and great local transport links, at a very good day rate that covers all the Metro and the Ferry across to North Shields. We went into Newcastle and down to Whitley Bay on the Metro. Always difficult to know how long to stay at a place but we know we should have stayed longer then our 3days. The Grotto Pub in particular is worth a visit, check it out on the web, we consider this a must visit place, it even has a hotel there!

Excellent stopover without going into busy Newcastle traffic. Accommodation to suit all Budgets. Good selection of shops for a smaller place. Good selection of Pubs and Restaurants especially Indian and other ethnic food. Tandoori International on Ocean Road is a regular favourite. Road access from A1 is good and nearby Tyne Tunnel ( simple online £2.40 payment) gives excellent connection to Dutch Ferry Terminal and Newcastle Airport and road to Berwick & Edinburgh. Beach and Park amusements excellent for kids in summer.

Sea front is well designed and maintained.

Sea front is well designed and maintained. Town centre, as with many places, has seen better days and needs modernisation - except The Word which is a great facility. The Marine is a friendly pub to visit for a very good value drink and/or meal. The Metro provides adequate transport locally and the ferry to North Shields is useful.

Location was ten minute walk from South Shields station - conv shop around the corner and bus stop right outside if needed. Room was simple, nice, clean - I was given an on-suite one which was great and looked brand new. Breakfast - various juices, cereals and cooked breakfast. There was other guests there but didn’t hear them. Had ironing facilities. Host was really nice and friendly. If I stay in S shields again I would stay here Really good value

Really beautiful location- spectacular views- the best in the hotel! Literally on the seafront. Nice big spacious room with lots of natural light and fresh sea air! Relaxing on a night listening to the waves. Very close to local amenities, walks, nightlife and of course the beautiful north east coast!
