Stunning architecture and beautiful setting. It was so interesting watching the River Avon flow under the hotel and out at the front of the hotel. Just a 15 minute amble to Salisbury City with views of the Cathedral from the hotel and on the walk into town. Lovely staff on reception, the bar and restaurant. Extensive choice at breakfast. We had two rooms - a double for us and a large single for our adult son. Both rooms were very comfortable and well furnished.

Great array of shops and restaurants.

Great array of shops and restaurants. It was a picture postcard during the festive season with all the lights on the trees in the square where we sang carols with the locals. We are sure we only scratched the surface of Salisbury as it looks a historic town but our stay was primarily to visit family.

My second trip to Salisbury with a 24 year gap.

My second trip to Salisbury with a 24 year gap. This place feels magical and if you want to transport yourself back in time, this is the town to do it in. I could spend so much time exploring and sightseeing. Great center point for Stonehenge, Southampton, Highclere, Old Sarum, and so much more. Do yourself a favor and make the effort to stay and visit Salisbury.

We loved walking around Salisbury and visiting the beautiful Salisbury cathedral. Salisbury has so many eateries and lovely shops and just has a great atmosphere. We also drove to Stonehenge and did the paid visit (30 GB pounds per adult). As it was early December the weather was wild, with blustery winds and raining and grey foreboding skies which really added to the atmosphere of the place and we absolutely loved it (especially as there weren’t many tourists) !

As a city, Salisbury is very pretty and historic.

As a city, Salisbury is very pretty and historic. The cathedral is definitely worth visiting and is beautiful inside and out. The city has some very attractive Tudor buildings and it is very compact and easy to walk around in. Lots of shops to visit of course, and loads of cafes! There is even a department store... not many of those around these days.. Everything is within walking distance. There are many buses too, which go all over the local area and to Amesbury etc. Very good services by train as well. There is the Stonehenge bus which goes from the railway station if you don't have a car. I ate at Wildwood (Italian) and Pizza Express and other cafes.

Wonderful town with river walks, medieval buildings and hotels plus many independent shops all grouped together. The cathedral is magnificent, £13 entrance, but worth it, especially the font!! Restaurants are plentiful but use the pubs and independents, they are so much better than the chain restaurants. Large car parks, not too pricey. Racecourse alongside town. Level walking around town.

The room and bathroom were very spacious and comfy, with direct access from the carpark via the garden. Although they offer breakfast, we appreciated having a kitchenette, i.e. fridge, microwave, toaster, crockery & cutlery so it was very convenient to make our own breakfast in the room and also eat a take-away (there was even a plug-in hob and a couple of pans to use if desired). We hope to return when it's warmer to enjoy the private patio. We really appreciated the Gideons' Bible which most hotels no longer make available.

This is a quaint, pleasant old fashioned hotel on the outskirts of Salisbury. The location of the hotel is great, in a quiet part of the town but within a very pleasant 15 minute walking distance of the town centre through the Cathedral grounds. There is ample parking at the hotel. The room was a good size with plenty of space with a lovely view of the river at the back of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of hot and cold. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Beautiful pub in the city centre (close to market square and cathedral) with excellent breakfast and very delicious, very tasty dinner meals! Room (3-bed room) was extremely spacious including a huge bathroom (bigger than a standard hotel room) with bathtube and seperate shower. very friendly staff. Much better than expected! We really enjoyed it.
