Access to the beach is not too difficult for someone whose joints creak a bit. A long slope with hand rail is helpful. Our sunny but bracing walk along the prom was enlivened by cheerful visitors and dogs . The outdoor cafe afforded shelter from the wind and good coffee. After 2 hours we walked slowly into the village and were charmed by the buildings and quirky shops, the Grange library and art gallery, duck pond and church with Burne Jones windows. We found very clean toilets inside the church too. Thanks for this.We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rottingdean.

Rottingdean is picturesque.

Rottingdean is picturesque. Little streets with old pubs, houses and a church. The windmill is gorgeous. Beaches have great walkways for kids, plus they are wheelchair accessible. Also loads of areas for walking up the hills with great views.

We personally like the history surrounding Rottingdean - there's so much for those interested. There is a good regular supply of buses, whether to Brighton or Eastbourne or other destinations, with a bus stop conveniently near, also good walks along the cliff top or the undercliffs.

What a charming place to spend the day.

What a charming place to spend the day. We strolled around Kiplings Garden and got to go inside a windmill! Loved the exhibition at The Grange too. A good selection of traditional pubs with amazing gardens and one with a view of the duck pond on the green. Had a dip in the Art Deco Lido at Saltdean too. Great cafes and places for breakfast and afternoon tea too. Lots of vegan options. A real gem away from the hustle and bustle of Brighton.

I grew up in Rottingdean although haven't returned for several decades. It is still a delightful village, especially around the green and pond. A lot less the victim of too much tourism which affects Brighton itself. Easy transport connections along the coast in both directions. I will be sure to return a lot sooner than before.

A lovely area with plenty to do - just down the coast from the bustle of Brighton and Worthing. Great beach and seaside town with plenty of independent shops to explore - also ideal if you want a base to go hiking in the Sussex countryside.

The Martlets was a stylish junior suite with seaviews. The attention to detail was impressive ie the old library book called The Martlets which a fictitious bird and the symbol of Sussex. Beautiful deco bathroom and lush roll top bath in bedroom to add to luxurious feel. Excellent policy of being able to park next to the hotel- not sure if it was a public or private car park.

Lovely ĺocation, the sea view balcony room 115 was worth the extra £, room was clean & had everything required for a very comfortable stay. Good bed, great shower, nice robes, plenty of fresh water provided daily. Restaurant & food was good & well managed. Rottingdean is an interesting historic village with the advantage of the sea & beach.

Very pretty location with excellent views of the sea. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Quaint little touches in the room made this so much more special compared to a sterile chain hotel. The secret treat in a mini chest with a key to reveal was another delightful touch. Will come back again when we visit Brighton.

The apartment is small but it had everything that we needed for a week's stay in the Brighton area. It is in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy walking distance of Rottingdean village centre.
