Everything about this place is just amazing. I come here regularly, and for what you pay for the room—including access to the spa—it’s incredible value. The staff are super professional (you won’t find service like this anywhere else in Plymouth), and the rooms are always spotless and high-quality. To top it all off, the spa and the food are absolutely unreal. Thanks again, Boringdon. Adil Al-Rahmani

The room was outstanding. The head of the Bistro Pierre restaurant - Karen - was amazing and so helpful. She really made it all come together. The food was good and the prices were spot on. William Yard is a magnificent Victorian Naval port that has been sympathetically restored and there is a range of bars and restaurants nearby. Bistrot Pierre is at the heart of the Yard. Plymouth is not a very pretty place but it is worth the trip just to see/stay at William Yard and Bistro Pierre. Outstanding rooms and overall ambience. Will go back no question.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

Plymouth is a great destination really especially during the Summer - lots of different venues and the ferries mean you can get to other places too with minimal fuss. Plenty of eating opportunities and handy for trips to Dartmoor or into Cornwall (don't tell everyone about the Rame peninsula!!).

Even without a car there are many places of interest within walking distance from the hotel. Numerous, excellent and varied restaurants and cafes also nearby and easy to get to. The town centre itself is a dreadful mess and shopping facilities not good. The shopping Mall is large with a variety of shops but the top brands are not available. So, Exeter or Bristol are the nearest places to shop for the higher standard of product in cosmetics or clothing. A big down point for me.

Plymouth is a great city to visit, with a vibrant centre and many different zones each with its own character. From Drakes circus and the shopping centre, to the Barbican and Hoe and the Royal William Yard and docks, Plymouth has a lot to see and do.

I love the Hoe, the waterfront walk, and the Barbicon. When it isn't raining, it is great to walk or just sit. It is too bad about the construction of the downtown area, as it was a lot less fun to wander around in this time. The Guy Faulks day bonfire, fireworks, and fair are really special. There is a great variety of restaurants.

I didn't spend much time in Plymouth itself - my accommodation was at Plympton just outside Plymouth. Notwithstanding the time I did spend visiting Plymouth was both memorable and enjoyable. The Barbican area has so much history and generally the surrounding areas of Plymouth including the moorland areas have so much to offer to travellers to this part of the U.K. - particularly walks/hikes.

This is a small family run hotel which gave out a warm and friendly vibe from arrival until time of leaving. Comfortable rooms with good bathroom and facilities such as coffee making and decent towels. Breakfast freshly cooked with great coffee and a good choice served by friendly staff. A great location for the Pavilions, Theatre Royal, the Hoe, the Barbican and town shopping. We visit Plymouth a few times a year for shows and will definitely book again in preference to any of the bigger hotels and national chains.

We had actually booked another hotel, more in the centre of Plymouth, but decided to cancel and try the Copthorne as it was 10 minutes from the train station, from there all we had to to was cross the road to catch the bus to Torpoint. I'm glad we did cancel as the Copthorne turned out to be cheaper and a lot better, the room was a good size for both of us and room service was quick and the food was of a high standard.

The view from our spacious room was incredible. The breakfast and dinner with the same amazing view was simply excellent. Staff go above and beyond. This hotel really has the most amazing location, it’s near the city, other good restaurants and bars and the seafront. Once you’re parked up you don’t really need to drive to see the best bits of Plymouth. Would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it.
