Beautiful hotel with a very chic and luxurious decor style. The room was large, clean and with all the facilities you might need during the stay - Alexa, iron, dryer, mirror, shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and even cotton pads and cotton buds. The staff and service was top notch. We had an amazing short stay and we will definitely return if we are in Oban.

What's not to like? William is an excellent host. He had informed us very well about the possibilities of the restaurant and its limited opening hours. Nevertheless, we kept our booking anyway. And then you get to arrive (much later than intended, but that's Scotland for you...😅 way too much beauty not to stop in between) the peace and quiet, with a beautiful letter on the door containing all the explanation that was needed. In the morning we were received a Scottish welcom, warm and pure, with a joke on the side.. But then breakfast! Wow! Delicious, everything and more than you could wish for. And to finish we got some nice tips where we could find more beautiful things on our walks, wonderful, there are no words for it. We will definitely come back! That is for sure

We travelled with our dogs and we were all made really welcome. Our dog friendly room overlooked the back of the hotel which was fine for us. If you do not travel with a dog, get a room with sea view. They look great! The food in the bar is really good. All of the staff were super friendly.

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is great the seafood is a must (try the sea-food shack by the ferry), there is a good range of shops from handmade jewellery and fine wool clothing to charity shops, whisky shops and outdoor shops. The distillery and hot chocolate café are worth a visit as is a walk up the hill or along the shore to the castle.

Oban is a vibrant town with excellent facilities and much to do. It is well worth a visit and if you're a whisky lover visits to the distillery and the whisky shop are a must. A day trip to Mull is also a good bet.

Our first visit to Oban and we'll certainly be back.

Our first visit to Oban and we'll certainly be back. There are a huge choice of hotels (avoid The Columba) to suit all tastes and budgets and a great variety of excellent places to eat. We visited McCaig's Tower from where you get breath taking views of the town and the waters and islands beyond. The small but very informative War Museums is also well worth a visit. We took a ferry to the Isle of Mull and then the bus to Tobermory, but would probably take our car across next time so we could explore a bit more.

Oban is a great holiday destination.

Oban is a great holiday destination. The people, the restaurants, the seafood, the meat.. it's all top quality. (If you pick your restaurants carefully, The Olive Garden, The Waterfront... Ee-usk if you're selective... Cuan Mor maybe) There's an M&S Food Hall if you don't fancy cooking from scratch, Alba delicatessen is good too. Tesco for the basics but remember that, north of the border, there are no special deals on booze. Nicola stopped them. Special legislation! Wow! For long term parking you can use the Tesco car park if you go online and book it using the Yourparkingspace app. This is handy for the town. Lots of trips/tours are available if you look online, our favourite is the Three Isles.

It is an exceptional hotel. The location is great (10 min walk to the pier and city center), the view is breathtaking - Kerrara island, Isle of Mull, Oban view, the hotel is beautifully decorated and very cozy. The room (suite) was big, clean and beautiful. The breakfast was tasty with big choice. A special thank you to Declan for his cocktails and nice stories about the region. We will come back!
