FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

A city map is a great help and there is lots to see, bus service is great and can get you most places in the centre, history bus trip around the sights is an option. According to other Hotel visitors who come to Nottingham regularly the Hotels on the outskirts seem to offers a much improved service but I cannot confirm that.

I visited the Playhouse theatre for a talk from Derek Jacobi, an excellent actor. I visited the Castle which was impressive and very interesting. The exhibitions were interesting and the café facilities were outstanding. I walked along the pleasant Nottingham canal. I had an excellent meal at Browns restaurant near the Playhouse theatre. The people I met were friendly and helpful.

Nice place lovely shopping centre and easy to navigate across the centre only issue like most cities is the homeless and dodgy druggies scattered in shop fronts or outside restaurants needs a good clear out or banning orders

I wasn't sightseeing but Nottingham seems like a place worth exploring. The Goose Fair was on when I visited, which looked amazing. I liked the tramway and there's an excellent 'bus service. One slight criticism is that the city could do with local street maps at 'bus and tram stops so that a stranger can better orientate themselves.

Great value no frills, privately owned, welcoming friendly helpful staff. No restaurant, but try the real fresh breakfast roll made to order. Great easy to find location between M1 and City Centre with own parking extra or free parking in locality. Almost perfect location for 20min walk-able to City Centre, or short taxi ride. Makes visit to Nottingham so much easier. I mean who wants to drive or park overnight in Nottigham City Centre, getting into a doom loops and fined for being forced into bus lanes?

We stayed in the family room. It is spacious and comfortable. Although the hotel is on a main road, the sound-proofing is good, so you do not hear the traffic if the window on the street side is kept closed. Staff friendly. Easy journey to the city centre by bus (bus stop directly outside the hotel, regular buses, 17 minute journey time). Free on-site car parking.

The location is great for Nottingham city centre the hotel outside is not great to look at but it was clean tidy and the air on worked well on really hot afternoon and night. The rooms need a revamp but we’re clean and tidy, the bottles of soap etc had very little in so we ran out just before check out. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
