The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was bigger than expected and in a good state with a nice view. We ate here both nights - a great selection of delicious food on the menu and specials board,and the carvery was great too.

Excellent location, farmhouse in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by trees and bushes while close to major sights. Debbie was a wonderful host. Lavish breakfasts. Bathroom is a few meters away across the corridor, not en-suite, but you have basically the whole floor for yourselves and we felt perfect privacy all the time. It way like a stay in 2nd home to us. I had great communication from Sofya from the moment we booked and she had confirmed our arrival time. She let us know there was no time pressure and provided us with the code. After a long day out exploring we had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful annexe. It was very clean and even all the small things like milk in the fridge were thought of. The hosts had provided something to entertain my son which was very kind and then we enjoyed watching a movie before bed on the sofa. The bedding and towels were clean and smelt amazing and again they had provided everything for a comfortable stay. The sofa was super comfy and my son had a good nights sleep. The location was quiet which made for a peaceful nights sleep and the bonus of a parking space out front so no need to worry about our car. The kitchen area was well equipped with everything you would need and the hosts had provided some essentials for breakfast which we thought was a lovely touch as I had forgotten to grab something at the shop. Overall it was great and when discussed about our next trip down to the area we both didn’t hesitate to say we would stay again.

Mere itself is a lovely small town.

Mere itself is a lovely small town. I would highly reccommend the Brush and Broom restaurant on the edge of town. We called for breakfast and the food and service were excellent. The nearby Stourhead house and gardens are amazing and one of the best National Trust properties we have visited.

Mere is ideally situated for trips around area, Longleat is about 10 minutes drive away, Stourbridge is near too and is worth a visit, Nice countryside all around this area, Mere offers ideal base for travel as well as some great places to eat, highly recommend the George for some great pub food with that little bit extra on the menu for seafood lovers.

The Walnut Tree was really lovely.

The Walnut Tree was really lovely. So pleased we were recommended it for our two night stay for a family wedding nearby. The room we stayed in had everything we required and was spotlessly clean, warm and had all the facilities we required, plenty of space to hang our clothes and drawer space. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower with complimentary soap and shampoo etc.The towels were fresh , fluffy and white. There was also a good hair dryer and a choice of teas and coffees, bottled water and nice biscuits on both days. The room was a good size and peaceful.

Lovely 16th century hotel.

Lovely 16th century hotel. Room and bathroom was cosy and clean. Good value accommodation. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. If we are in the area again we will definitely book there again. We ate at the hotel a few evenings, The Butt and Sherry across the road twice - and joined in the weekly quiz evening -which is more of a locals pub and our last evening at The Walnut Tree to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary! All three were good. If we travelled to the area again we would definitely avoid Bath!! We spent an hour tying to get through on a Sunday afternoon

Lovely stay in a small studio overlooking a field with beautiful sunsets, starry skies and plenty of ducks/geese to spot! Nice walks nearby into Mere through the fields and past a little river. Studio itself is small but sufficient. The bed is a pull out sofa bed which is easy to make up and comfortable. Kitchen includes fridge, hob and microwave. It would be good if there was a little sink in the toilet and option to pull a curtain across the shower. Sarah, the host, was friendly and welcoming. Very enjoyable! Thank you.

The George Inn is full of character and charm and provided an excellent stopover for a journey south. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the location was ideal being just a short distance from the A303. We booked a table for dinner and had an excellent meal from a very good choice. Breakfast, similarly was good and from a wide choice of dishes. We would stay again if in the area.

Ideal for a one night stopover on a long journey. Instructions were accurate and easy enough to implement even though they sounded complicated at first. Had just enough of everything to ensure that we were comfortable for one night. Good value for money. Easy walk into Mere, to buy supplies from theCoop.
